Do you get xp for using a factory to mass produce? Is it the same amount of XP as not using one? This is the only way I can think of that a factory would be worth the cost, since your buddies cannot use it.

Yes, but according to my tests you:

Must be logged in.

Must be within ?1.5km? of the factory

Must not be in a "You have entered (City Name)" Area.

You get full xp.

It seems to work like this : You get a small amount of exp per item IF you are close to the factory and you are logged on.

If factory is up and running and I am not near it, no exp.

I tried logging out the day before yesteday near mine and no exp while offline.

I tried last night going AFK next to the factory instead of logging. The server hiccuped sometime in the night but I got exp (dunno when I got knocked offline so cant say how fast it was).

So you have to be close and have to be online to get crafting exp. Guess it's back to a clickfest to master medical crafting.
