Thread: There's no such thing as a casual architect

Not with resources shifting daily. I've been shafted by a resource shift every day for the passed 4 days. Considering that low-grade isn't all that easy to find over 75% anyway...

Actually, lemme rephrase that-- Low-grade ore is hard as **edit** to find over 75%.

It costs a lot to just pack up and move a set of medium/large harvesters, too.

I'm inclined to believe that there is no such thing as the casual architect. If you're in this business, you *must* play a rediculous amount of time.

Yesterday I would've argued with you on that point. But now it is certainly true. Casual players will not be able to afford this occupation any longer.

[Note to SOE: it's the casual players who maintain their subscriptions. Power junkies always get bored and move on. For what it's worth. Bah]

And power players are going to leave this game much sooner than others seeing as there is little or no end game. I am going to stick out my free month, and maybe a few after that - but if this is how SOE "solves" problems I won't be playing for long.

I agree it shouldn't be more advantageous to not pay maintanence than to pay it on harvesters. But at the same token, you shouldn't be forced to pay maintanence. It should just be to your advantage to do so if you can afford to. You should receivea benefit. For example the amount of resources collected should change drastically.

The daily resource shifting is a bug and it's not on every server. The resources on my server have been the same since day 1.

You don't nessaceraly need to build everything yourself to be an architect. You could mearly run a few harvesters andbuild and sell the compenents. I sell my buildings for 5 credits per resource. If I needed certain components fast and short on the resources I'd gladly pay 3 credits per resource on an indivdual part. If I really needed it bad I'd even forgo profit and buy it at 5 credits. I've made a little money selling components on my server already, since I make all my compenents ahead of time for the XP and only combine deeds when I make a sell.

"There's no such thing as a casual architect "

I have to agree with this 100%, but I have ALWAYS thought this. This profession is not for the person that can only play 2-3 hours a day. Dont get me wrong there are a lot of professions in this game that will allow you to do that, but ours is one for the Powergamers. I knew this when I got into the game (since I was in beta) that is why I picked the profession to be honest, I like business, both real life and in game, and I have a lot of time to play (6-8 hours a day on week nights, 10-20 hours a day on weekends) so the prof fits me like a glove..

To sum things up: You are 100% correct about this prof not being for the casual gamer.

75% for low grade ore, that is impressive. I have been over Half of Tat and 1/4 of Naboo and not found anything greater then 58% for ore. Maybe I am just searching wrong. Though I do agree with you, I had planned on playing a lot last week since I had some time off and then thought I would catch around 2 hours a day from there on. It is impossible to only play 2 hours a day when it takes me around 1.5 hours to track down all of my harvestors. The only solution I can find is place my harvestors in clusters even if there is a richer sample some place else.

Maybe you're only looking for Carbonate, Potnik. Try for Intrusive and Silastic as well, I have a nice 80% intrusive ore spot.
