With a factory you put a schematic and resources in and take the finished product out.

You can make schematics by using a specialized craft tool near a craft station - the option will come up after you complete the item. You get NO xp for making a schematic. When you make a schematic you have to set the number of pieces it will produce. Default is 100, but the maximum is 1000. The schematic will disappear when you have reached the number you set. You don't have to make all the items at once...you can unload the schematic from the factory to stop production at any time and reload it later.

When you load a schematic into a factory you must use the EXACT materials that you used making the schematic to make the items. Since materials do run out as people harvest them, make sure that you have enough resources to build what you need before making the schematic.

Factories take much longer to produce items than you can by hand. Some items require parts from a factory crate so you need factories for those items. Also, factories will produce while you do other stuff, or are offline.

Factory xp is SUPPOSED to be 1/10th normal xp. However rumor has it that you still get full xp. I have not verified this yet because the change was made very late in beta.

Other factory bugs/problems:

If you set another player as admin for a factory, they cannot access the input or output hoppers...only the schematic slot. They don't get the xp either...you do.

During beta ANYONE could access the schematic slot and steal your schematic. I don't know if this has been fixed or not.

Factory crates do not load properly as factory input. You have to take the items out of the crates by hand and put them into the input hopper. This was supposedly fixed at the end of beta but reported still broken after the fix.

Say you're experimenting and manage to craft a really good item. You could either make a prototype, which puts the item directly in your inventory, or you can make a schematic. To use a schematic you need access to a factory but the advantage is that you can make multiple copies of the item. So that weapon that you expeirimented on and got multiple high succcesses - rather than just have one copy for sale, you could have 10, 20, or as many copies as you have the resources for.

Feels like right now factories are in really high demand by the other elite artisan professions out there. After turning novice architect today I rocked the title above my head and got spammed with tells asking me if I could make factories yet. Too bad they take so many **edit** resources to make.

What if I get a schematic of something that I personally do not know how to make, can I still run this in my factory?

For example lets say I buy a scematic of a laser rifle, and put the resources in the factory.

How do we know when the order is complete? Right now the only option I have is stop manuf.

When the factory stops, either because it's out of resources, has worn out the schematic, or you stopped it, you will get an email from the system.

Couple clarifications:

1) You MUST be online to get XPs from your factory

2) You MUST be within a certain radius of your factory. I do not however, know what that radius is.
