maybe not for walss etc, but what about for generators and mechanisms etc? will this effect a harvestors ber rate?

generators - no


mechanisms - definitely


Final combine - definitely

I am new to the profession, andafter reading various posts, Iam confused.


There seems to be a lot of disagreement about whether the quality of resources makes any difference ... or rather, whether it makes any worthwhile difference.


Maybe it does matter for rome things, but not others?


Can anyone tell me more, or point me in the direction of a "definitive" thread ?


I'd also be interested in learning whether the quality of resources affects sub-components, which in turn affect the finished product? If I use crappy resources to make my Generator Turbines, will this affect the quality of the Manufacturing Mechanism? And if the other resources used to make the Manufacturing Mechanism are low quality, will this then affect the ..... and so on ...

Stats dont matter on anything bar harvies/crating stations and candles/lamps.

Also most if not all of your questions will have answers in the FAQ, i suggest you look there first

Thank you for your answer Stena ... but you missed one part of my question ...


Ok, so imagineI want to make a harvester ...


To make the harvesterI need to make a Generator Turbine ... which requires 7 different resources. Are you saying that because resource quality is important for harvies, it is alsoimportant that I use my best resources to make the sub-components that are needed for harvies ?


E.g. ... I make 2 harvesters using the BEST POSSIBLE resources, but with one difference:


Harv 1 is made with a Generator Turbine that was made using the best possible resources


Harv 2 is made with a Generator Turbine made from crappy resources.


Which is better? Or is there no difference?

I dont think you can experiment on the Gen Turbs so no res quality would not matter. It only matters on the "mining" bits and the final build. So for a Heavy Mineral Miner It would be on the OMU and the final build. But it's in the FAQ so i would check there.

The FAQ actually does have answers to some of the questions posted here. You can find it stickied at the top of this forum at:

In particular, there is this snippet:

Q-5-13: Does resource quality matter?


A-5.13: The large majority of the material we use is grind quality and the quality does not matter. Resource quality does not matter for buildings of any kind or in factories. Most furniture it doesn't matter except lights which can increase the lifespan but that is optional. For harvesters the mining part and final combine you want high HR, SR, UT and maybe Ma for the final combine if you're worried about hopper size. All materials used in crafting stations should be high quality if you want a high rating but that is optional

So, if you ignore crafting stations and candles/lamps, the ONLY things that an architect makes that care about resource quality are harvesters. And the ONLY places where you worry about quality is in the "mining component" (e.g., ore mining unit, fluidic drilling pump unit) and the final assembly.


For *everything else* (walls, bricks, generator turbines, ......) just use crappy resources.


And BTW - when we say "quality" with regards to harvesters, we mean "((HR+SR+UT+UT)/4)" at least 900 and preferably higher.
