In the past week or so I have noticed an increase in the number of people choosing to becomce architects. I wonder where this suddent interest comes from. Did you old vets see a simmilar increase as a result of JTL? I suspect that this interest comes from the new peeps brought in by the total experience. Any of you vets see anything like this before?

I see a sudden increase in all crafting professions as soon as any influx of new players happens. I've been observing the increased traffic in Mos Eisley (the new player start point ever since they went from helperdroids to starter quests in that city)for some time. That's only natural.

Im a newbie (been playing a month, by the way when am I not a newbie?) I found it interesting that a game like SWG has so many options, you dont have to be a jedi, you dont have to be good or bad, etc... Me, I always wanted to be an architect (even though options are limited in SWG) so when I picked up the game. I figured I would try that first.

The main increase I have seen was due to the ease in mastering architect...and then respec'ing to armor or weapon smith.

I guess there could have been one or two actual noobs in the mix.

If it was ever possible to track this metric, I would not be surprised that the ratio of statues crafted/practicedto statues actually placed is about25k to 1.

It could also be that newer players dont quite get how many resources it takes to make some of our bigger things. So when they go looking for a medium house and see the cost st 80k, or even 120k, they say "forget this, I'll just become an Architect and make myself one for free!". Then after they get a good look and become more educated, well, they understand then.

I wa sasked to make a city hall for someone. I warned them up front I am priced pretty high because I wont sell structures for less than I could sell the raw resources for it. He said that the schematic only showed it needed like 5k resources. I whippe dout my trusty spreadsheet, and sent him a tell with the total amount of resources needed for one city hall...

Aluminum 3000
Gas, Reactive 1200
Steel 1074
Chemical 300

just over 80k. He then understood why I was selling at about 600k. Thats a modest 8cpu.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

There *might* be a point in climbing the Buildings line by itself, but climbing Installations without Construction is worthless. The only schems you get are for harvesters, which need experimentation points to be viable.

Absolutely right. I said "Buildings" when I should have said "Construction" -- thanks for the catch.

All that's really necessary out of the Buildings line is Buildings I for the Structure StorageModule usedin the Food, Structure, and Wearables Factory schematics. And if you're just interested in making harvesters, you don't even need Buildings I.

Listen to ZenDragonMLS, folks.

Interesting question.

Something I noticed during respec was that among the elite crafting professions, Architect has useful craftable items in the same line (Buildings)as experimentation points. The other elite crafting professions don't do this --you can get more experimentation points, or new schematics, but not both because they're in different lines.

This increases the value of skillpoints spent on Architect skills, which minmaxers would realize. I suspectthe increase in Architects comes mostly from minmaxerspicking up just the Installations and Buildings lines of Architect, but I could be wrong. If we start seeing lots more furniture being sold, we'll know that it's because the entire Architect profession has somehow become perceived asmore valuable/useful/interesting.

Speaking of valuable elite craftingprofessions, it looks like Chefs may benefit the most from the CU. With the decrease in the strength of Doctor buffs, the value of Chef food buffs goes up. I expect to see a lot more Chefs being born in the weeks to come....

8 CPU? Nice! I seem to be stuck around 5 CPU for my stuff and I find I am about in the middle for the price ranges in my galaxy.
