Thread: Curious what you think of my idea re: structure storage?

My idea would increase the storage capacity of a structure at the expense of player lots.

Simply Architects would be able to craft and sell conversion deeds. These would be single use deeds that would not be reclaimable. They would allow players to convert 1 free lot into an extended amount of storage on any currentlly owned structure by a player.

For example...if i prefered to own only 1 house...say a medium tattoine house to display all my trophies i currently could not because of the 200 item storage limit. With a conversion deed i would by one from a vendor, put it into my top level inventory (back pack), go to the structure i want to add storage to, go to the structure control terminal and on the radial menu would be an option to add storage.

If i had a conversion deed and at least 1 free lot i could use the deed to add 50 or 100 item storage to the structure at the reduction of 1 lot from my character.

This system would not allow a player to own more storage space than we currently are capable of owning because the structure storage increase would be the equivelent of what we could obtain by owning the equivelent number of structure with their associated storage capacities.

It would also not take away from architects structure sales because they would be the only ones capable of crafting the deeds so the loss in structure sales could be offset by conversion deeds. Again these deeds would be single use and not recoverable so a new deed would be needed for every lot converted.

The conversion process would be reversable. If i decided i wanted to own another structure at a later date all i would have to do is empty the converted structure of the required number of items and the conversion process would let me destroy a portion of the storage for reclamation of a lot.

We as players use our houses either for mass storage or for decorating with ingame trophies.

I am a player that uses my house for displaying all my trophies. After having played for over a year i have many. As a collector i prefer to display them in one single house but do not like the floorplans of the guild halls and larger houses and prefer the medium tatt house which is limited to 200 items storage. It would be a very nice option for those of us that prefer to display our looted items without having to divide it up amoung different houses and it might give a little boost to the architect professions economy.

It would be especially nice option given the upcoming release of a new expansion and any further expansions. The amount of loot we own will keep increasing our demand for storage and display space.

Sounds good. If someone is using 2 houses, 1 for normal living and vendors and the other for storage only, then it would be nice to consolidate them into 1 building for convenience.

One potential problem is that if you did that and then had 1 bulding with more items in it, that would cause the load time to increase. I know when I enter my full house with a bunch of stuff in it, it can take a while for the system to load all the items to my client. I don't know if this would be a big problem or not on the server side but its a possibility that the more items in a house the more it causes lag for the server when people are loading the items.

yeah your right...didn't think of that. I think we could still comfortablly hit around 400 items before that becomes an issue but the overall load on the server might hurt.

In our town, we have a couple of completely decorated public guild hall and the loading time when you go into them is insane. My own store is a fully decorated medium house and it also take a certain amount of time to load. So I'm not sure that making houses with more decorations would be positive. If lag wasn't such an issue, I'd cheer for this idea thou.

Easier to create housing with more storage and more lot usage.
