Ok so I finally decided to put in some time and do a lengthy experiment to compare a low quality crafting station with a high quality crafting station. Here in short is the result:
For complexity 14 artisan reinforced stocks:
+43 station = 68 great success, 32 lower successes
-12 station = 53 great success, 47 lower successes
Thats 28% more great successes with the high quality station
So, a high quality station can improve your experimentation results by a significant amount.
This was done with a complexity 14 item and I believe that the results are dependent on complexity level to some degree. Low compleixity items may not see any difference in stations.
Note: This is one experiment for 1 kind of item and results may differ for other items and different methods of experimentation (# points spent). Your mileage may vary.
As a crafter this means less time spent experiementing to get the best results for your schematics. Lower wasted materials from poor experimentation results. Less risk of a poor experimentation result on a rare, loot based item.

Full details..
I first started doing a little test with high power barrels. With those I made 40 of them using both the -12 station and the +43 station. But I saw no signficant difference in the results. I got about 87% great success with each station. However high power barrels have complexity level of just 5. So I theorized that a very low complexity item may not be hard enough to make for the station to have a noticable impact and it might make more difference with higher complexity items.
So I then tried making reinforced stocks. Those are complexity 14. With the stocks I saw an immediate and significant difference in the experiementation results. So I continued the experimentation and did a full 100 sample of them on each of the -12 and +43 stations.
I also watched the assembly result and I didn't see a big difference with both getting >90% great success. However the +43 station had a few more amazings thrown in. I don't know if I've got a large enough sample to make any conclusions from that however.
THeres the full detail on the results:
+43 station
assemblies : 92 great, 8 amazing
experimentation: 68 great, 27 good, 1 fail, 3 moderate, 1 success
-12 station
assemblies : 96 great, 4 amazing
experimentation: 53 great, 39 good, 6 fail, 2 moderate
I experimented with the same tools all 14.7 rating, same good quality materials (Lovir copper and Ivitha polymer from Sunrunner), same character Oprolan on Sunrunner, in same house. Experimentation process I put 5 points into each line and did one experimentation per stock. Oprolan is a 10 point master artisan. I used no food or drink. I'm not in a city so have no city bonuses for experimentation.

I know there have been some previous experiements that seemed to show that stations didn't have an impact. However, if they were using low complexity items then that may have been the reason they didn't see any difference. Or if their sample size was not large enough and they didn't do enough experiments then that could have given them bad results. The equation and results may differ depending on how the experimentation is done and what kind of item is made. It is possible the equation for the impact of stations has been changed at some point in time. If anyone else cares to do their own experimentation then I'd be happy to see the results.
I do sell stations myself.
