I'm glad to see this...

"It was recently announced that bags would no longer be able to be placed on vendors. The motivation was to take action against the scam of people selling empty bags that were reported to have had expensive items inside the bag based on the vendor description of the bag. The team has since decided against this course of action based on player feedback to this change.
The long term solution is to make items in containers viewable. That will take some time to accomplish. In the meantime, we are going to keep the ability to place bags on vendors and add a disclaimer to remind players to be mindful of how they make expensive purchases when purchasing a bag from a vendor.

I'm glad to hear that bags are still to be allowed on vendors, the sad part is the ultimate solution that contents will be visible, this will mean I can no longer make special orders where I discount for bulk quantity by placing in a named bag. If I put 20 harvs in a bag with a 10pct discount anybody will be able to take advantage of it by seeing the contents, the losers will be me and the customer, the customer because they will have to wait longer while I remake the order, and me because my reputation will suffer. Oh well, maybe I have to try putting bags in bags, but I've never tried that, don't suppose it is possible.

Don't the devs even listen or care? There was a very good reason people were putting junk into bags, or leaving them empty, with a description that sounded like they had good things, and with a high price tag. It had nothing to do with trying to scam people. It was because crafters would put a special bag onto a vendor that was only meant for one person to buy, a special order of some sort. There were scum that would go around to vendors and purchase those bags, even though they were clearly marked as meant for another person. It was discussed in the forums as a problem. The solution (openly given out in the forums) was to mark bags in such a way that the intended purchaser would know which bag to buy, but there would be some bags with just junk items in them, priced exactly the same. Most crafters put warnings as part of the name, saying not to buy unless you are the person the bag is meant for.
Crafters continue to be blamed and punished for trying to work within the crummy system that they have been given. We are unable to specify a particular buyer for an item. We are not given any way to set up a private vendor that we only give certain buyers access to. There are no provisions at all for special orders.
I hate to tell you this, Sony, but not everyone gets online and plays at the same time. Some people can only play during the week, some only during the weekend. Same way with daytime and nighttime. There has to be some way to buy and sell specific items where the buyer and seller don't have to come face-to-face. I think this should have been done with the bazaar system, so that people wouldn't need a vendor to do it.

I'm sure that there are some of us that use "decoy" bags with junk in them to throw off the jerks that would buy our custom orders. However, I also believe SOE when they say that there were jerks out therethat would put bags of junk on vendors in order to trick people into buying garbage.
But I do agree its a crummy system. We need a better way to handle custom orders.
The solution I use is to deliver stuff in person to the buyer or their vendor but thats time consuming.

Easy solution: You specify who the pack is for to the vendor and the vendor will only sell it to that person.
'Vendor says: I'm sorry sir but that item is reserved for Gogo, you may not purchase it.'

Ya that sounds like the best solution. Would require some work on the DEV's part though. It does seem relatively easy to implement though.
I'm not sure if the DEVs altogether overlooked how much people use bags on vendors for valid purposes or if they were just looking for a temporary kludge fix to the problem of the scammers until they could implement something nicer like your suggestion.

I would like to see the ability to name your buyer on our vendors as well this sounds to be a viable fix. At the present I use customers vendors for special orders and offer up the items. But there are two problems with this course of action. 1. Not all of the customers have vendors. 2. When you offer an item to a vendor there is no email notifying the customer that they have an item waiting on their vendor.
But the second item is a seperate issue all together
