After way too many sporadic results with the same materials on harvesters, I'm going to give the harvester schematic thing a try. My question, though, is that I seem to recall hearing that wall modules don't have to be identical to use in a schematic (like other components do). I wanted to clarify before I start making schematics, though.
Thanks in advance.

Thats correct if it only ask for similar wall modules, they don't have to be identical...I can't think of anything off-hand that I've made that ever asked for Identical wall modules

any walls will do, any mix of crated walls, hand made walls, bought walls, all will work together.

No item that we build needs specific factory made (identical) walls.
And quality don't matter either.

Similar means the serial number of the item does not matter in ANY type of schematic.
Identical means that you must use the same items with the exact same serial number listed on the schematic.
So, the factoryschematic always tells you if you need serial numbered items or not.

Though... if you are intending to make a schematic for use in a factory, then ALL items must match and ALL items must be factory run. My first run in with this was luckilly with generator turbines, so I did have a use for them when I first made my clumbsy attempt to do factory run of Identical power core units.
Since then my idea of "short runs" of sub combines has drastically changed.

Not correct. Any wall will do for harvester schematics.

MEH! Dang kids. Just don't appreciate how good they got it. They used ta! I'll tell you whipper-snappers don't know nothing about work until you try and make a run of identical walls using resources from unexperimented personals! You kids got it easy! We had to make runs of IDENTICAL walls back in the day. Both ways.... IN THE SNOW! We had towork to get our heavies made, and if you were lucky, you got a 7! Not no fancy-dan 13 or 14! No, SEVEN....and we liked it.
<cranky old architect hat off>
Wait. No we didn't. That sucked. I'm glad they changed that. HOORAY!

Similar has one other stipulation that hasn't been mentioned here. They have to have thesame person credited as the item creator. I tried this last week with some old walls that I ran when my alt was admin on the factory. It stoped when it got to the walls with him listed as the creator but went smoth when it had my name listed.

I'd have to check this when I get in game. From what I've seen of schematics to be run in factories, Everything is serialized. When hand crafting, you can use whatever walls you like, but if you want to run actual deeds... I'm going to go verify this.

Believe us when we say ANY walls will do. It has been tried and tested over and over, I have personally been using mixed batches of walls I have bought alongside those I made in a factory for months.

They are absolutely correct, and I was serious about the wall thing.
They removed the serial requirement for walls a long, longtime ago.
...in a factory far, far away.
