Short answer: grind & sell or save walls till master, then make harvesters
Long answer:
When you first start out it might be tough to make money. I know my first month or so as an architect was a struggle. And I don't thingsthings have really gotten easier for a novice. You can supplement your income with mining or other activities while you grind up the profession. Or you can find someone that will buy walls from you. Factories might sell ok for a novice and at least pay back your material cost with a little profit too.
In the long run, I think you'll pretty much need an established business to do well as an architect. Some areas that may do well for you profit wise are harvesters, high rating crafting stations, furniture/building and interior design. I think there is room to succeed in all areas of architect depending on how well you can run that kind of business. I'm doing fine with harvesters myself but I'd be a total flop at interior design (cant even match my furniture in my own house.)
Of course a lot of it has to do with how you run your business. Things like the location of your shop matters a lot. Advertising is important. Getting repeat business and word of mouth business can make a huge impact. Your pricing strategy will play a big part in what kind of business you operate.
