I have begun using my structure factory to make structural modules. It's a great time saver. I then began thinking about investing ten of them to make a schematic for wall units. Therein lies my dilemna.
I have noticed that if I use a schematic to make, say... 50 structural modules. THen load up the factory with more resources and make 50 more, the serial numbers on on the ones from the first run are different than the ones from the second run. But, of course, they are all still "similar" structural modules if I'm making wall units by hand.
If I take ten of them along with some resources and make a schematic, then later on I make more structural modules (which will not be "identical" to the ones I used to make the schematic) will I still be able to use that schematic to make wall modules?
This same question seems to apply to making identical power cores for a PA hall. (Not tried it yet, obviously.) Two of the components are artisan level modules. Can I just make a bunch of those by hand to feed into the factory, or am I going to have to set up an equiment factory and make a metric buttload of "identical" modules to create the power core schematic and feed the factory later?
Yes you can still use the same schematic. You just have to use the exact same resources in the wall schematic. Structural modules don't have a serial number, so whether they are factory made or hand made doesn't really make a difference, schematic wise.
so this is what I do
1) Make 10 structural modules
2) Make a wall schematic using the 10 modules, 300 metal (dolag), and 200 ore (llule)
3) I have a wall schematic now. I can use any kind of 10 structural modules, handmade, factory made,CSR made, Jedi-Made.But, if I use the above schematic in step 2, I absolutely must use 300 metal (dolag) and 200 ore (llule) (as is following the schematic)
I can't say.. use 300 metal (titanium alluminum) and 200 ore (sitawop). So the 300 metal and 200 aluminum is the only limiting factor here.
For power cores, You do need the same kind of generator turbine you used to make the schematic with. So you could say that with power cores, you need factory made schematics because factory made schematics have a consistent serial number. Although it doesn't specifically say identical generator turbine in the power core because
1) You only need one generator turbine in a power core.
But, you do need identical power cores for say, a PA hall.And an identical power core requires a power core schematic. And a power core schematic requires an identical generator turbine. And an identical generator turbine requires a generator turbine schematic.
So in a way, thePA Hall schematic doesn't explicity say identical generator turbines, but it's just something an architect would have learned to do after having reached that high in the architect profession.

Oh ya, the structural modules do have a serial number your right. And that confused me the first time I tried to make a wall in a factory.
Generally this is how I figure out if I need the exact kind of component (i.e structural module for a wall, generator turbine for a power core)
1) Enter the schematic in the factory
2) Check ingredients needed
3) Check the subcomponents required (i.e structural module, generator turbines)
4) If there is a serial number in there in the form "(xxxxxxx)" Then I need an identical subcomponent to use the schematic. If not, then I don't need an identical subcomponent.
You will find that with the wall schematic, it will just say.. structural module count 10 Or something like that. But with a manufacturing mechanism schematic it will say.. generator turbine "(xxxxxxx)" Or something to that effect.
