Thread: Has Anyone Tried Crafting The Old Museum Painting Today?

I can't on til later tonight to test this, but I'm curious if anyone has tried crafting or using the schematic from the previous Bestine Museum painting now that the new one is out...

I just want to know if stock-piling old schematics is wise or not or if the Dev's have put something in game that causes that to not be possible once a new painting schematic has started selling. I can see the Dev's making old schematics start producing the new painting instead of the old one they were intended to make.

Anyway, just though I'd ask if anyone has tried TODAY using a previous painting schematic. Can you make both the Current Bestine Museum painting and the previous one?

I have not tried it, but I think the old schematics will work. Makes no sense really, even for SOE. You paid for the schematic, you are going to get your uses out of it. Each schematic has its own entry in the database. They would not overwrite one unless they changed the requirements or appearance of that particular object. Meaning, they wouldn't have a schematic for a mattberry plant and then replace that with the mon cal eye, but keep the name of the mattberry plant.

It still comes up in my crafting tool, so it should work. I still have several hundred in crates, so um, no reason to try.

I used it, and it worked fine. I have sold alot of the old and the new over the past 2 days. Some people never got the first painting, and now that they are missing 2, they had to catch up.

So yes, Stockpiling is not a bad idea. I have 3 extra of the first schematic.

Glad to hear they still work...I mainly asked because SWG has turned off older items in the past including schematics and crates (recall the pre-patch crate issues they just fixed)...They do have the power to make any schematic just stop working, whether on purpose or not...and I could see them "accidently" do this with the new painting becoming available...and since this is the first time we've changed to a new schematic, I thought it would make a good thing to test...

nope they have two seperate names so the only way your scenario would happen is if the devs did this intentionally. they havnt said anything about it so it will still work

I just made a schematic for another 100 of these and it worked fine and the factory is happily running along as normal (took me ages to harvest the hide though ). And I have both schematics living together in my datapad as well.

I was able to also make a run of the paintings this weekend (both new and old) and pull them from their crates...

It doesn't matter that they have seperate names (I program Databases for a living)...If you followed the foul-up with the pre-patch crates then you know what the dev's are "accidently" capable of...A recent change they made caused factory crates containing pre-patch items to not work...only recently did they fix this issue and get those factory crates working again (fwg5s, etc)...The deal with those crates is that anytime you pull something from a crate, the game actually crafts that item right there and then for you...they turned off some of the the pre-patch schematics and the game could not longer craft them due to error and therefore the items could not be pulled from the crates...

I was concerned that when the system turned off the first schematic for purchase and turned on the second schematic to be available for purchasethat a dev programming error might have made the "turned off" schematic uncraftable like the previous problem with the pre-patch crated items...all it takes is putting your1's (on)and your 0's (off)in the wrong place/column...hence the request to make sure and error had not been made and then needed to be reported...

I think the whole thing about the old weapons not being able to be pulled from crates was probably just a goof on their part. Just took them awhile (like it usually does) to fix it.

Exactly...That's why I brought up testing the old painting...the old weapons goof happened because the dev's basically turned off the old schematics from working, and thus, pulling them from crates wouldn't work...I made this post to make sure the dev's didn't "goof" again...like instead of turning off the ability to buy the old painting, they might accidently turn off the old schematic...

Most likely all they had to do is change the call to what painting ID was on sale, but you never know...they could have accidently made unavailable paintings uncraftable...

Glad to hear everything is working properly....
