Thread: What Do I Use Initially to Power a Personal Mineral Extractor?
What can I use initially to power a personal harvestor? Will radioactives work? I am going to make a personal mineral extractorand a wind power generator tonight for the first time and I was thinking that perhaps I could do the harvestor firstso that it could start workingand then create the wind generator. Is this possible or even a sound idea or should I complete both structures before placing the extractor? Also what yield should I settle for as a minimum for placement?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Depending on your sampling level, radioactive should suffice for the short-term - maybe for a few hours because you can probably find high radioactive deposits easily and geta hundred or so through sampling in a couple tries. I'd recommend you build a windgen ASAP though; with this nerf of sampling, it's just too much of a pain to sit and sample to get 600 radioactive a day to keep the thing powered. And you can always sell your excess windgen energy on the market - everybody's looking for it!

I never new radioactives worked as power. Hmm.. learn something new every day.
In answer to your question. EVERY structure has a maintenance cost. Personal Harvesters are 720cr per day. Wind is double that. Medium harvesters are 1440cr per day. Solar is double that. I would imagine large extractors would be 2880cr per day and Fusion would probably be double that. But I am guessing on large since I cannot make them yet. =)
Oh, and as for your question about concentrations: you can usually find metal despositsat least around70% if you look hard enough. Ore is tougher, but might be closer to 50 to 55% to be satisfactory. The windgens cost a bit less than 1500 a day to keep running, and the extractors a bit less than 750 a day. The devs have stated that this is going down 25% to 50% soon though.
