Thread: Reasons I lowball house prices
I got a /tell from someone last night, asking how I could sell houses for so little money. At first I thoughthe was surprised by my pricing and interested in buying a house. I told him I was part of a PA, who were able to combine resources to produce many small houses per day. Then I realized it was another Architect, complaining that I was low-balling prices and making all the other Architects go bankrupt.
Needless to say, he went on my ignore list pretty quickly. I don't have time to hear whining from other Architects. In fact, that's one of the main reasons I sell houses so cheaply...time. In addition to crafting houses, harvesters, and factories, I'm also in charge of putting power/money into the harvesters, collecting and distributing the resources, and selling houses to PA members and non-members to get cash for maintenance.
Yeah, I'm sure I could sell houses for higher than I'm getting, but then it would also take longer to find buyers. I run missions between cities for extra credits while I'm sellinghouses, but I'd still rather sell3 houses an hour at a low price rather than 1 house an hour at a higher price. I'm still making a profit at the low price and getting the money more quickly, so I can get on to other things.
Am I devaluing the market and making it tougher for other Architects? Maybe, but that's not my problem. My concern is my PA, not the well-being of every other Architect on the server. And if someone doesn't like it, they should join up withPA and stop worrying about making loads of cash to spend. I find it's MUCH more satisfying to help build an organization and city than it is to make the numbers in the bank account go up.
BTW, I actually helped this complaining Architect earlier by explaining to someone else selling a house that THEY were asking too cheap a price. So if it wasn't for me, prices would be even lower!
It's like an acceptable but low-key form of griefing. Congradulations on alienating all of the solo architects out there.
"So if it wasn't for me, prices would be even lower!"
Ya thanks a lot, you are really helping out the market..
This is a horrible attempt to make yourself sound like what you are doing is legitimate, and you know it's not. In the long run you are hurting other players on your server, and the whole architect profession.
I'm a solo architect and I have no trouble making a profit selling my houses at 7K. As it stands, if times are good, I'm selling them for as low as 5K. This is not a matter of guild vs. solo architects. It's a matter of good versus bad ones. I work hard atwhat I do and play my cards close to my chest. As it stands, the architect profession is way too overcrowded; people selling low-price houses serve the function of clearing out the supply side of the market so that those who made novice architect just by grinding can't continue to gouge the populace and level to installations IV just to find that their production methods are so inefficient that they can't produce 6 identical wall modules.
And please, please don't complain about not being able to sell your house at "market price." Market price is by definition the maximum pricethat you can sell it at, not what you think is fair.

I lowered the price of a house from 12 to 5 k for a guy because he helped me dropsome kima wolfs who were harrassing me atmy harvesters and it was all he could afford.
Lesson: There are all kinds of reasons why an architect might discount his wares, and why I might discount is nobody else's business! If you don't like it make a counter bid and then resell it for what you consider to be a"fair" price.
Right now I couldn't care less about the prices of small houses. I will still continue to sell them for 15K-20K. The people you are hurting are new players by selling these things so low. That is the problem with any crafting profession. If you didn't start day one it pretty much means your screwed.
I'm actually tired of seeing thread about small housing prices. It would be fine with me if every crafting profession came down to selling things for 2c/resource at the max. Kind of would give no reason for me and many others to be in this game. I don't want to have to go to all my havestors and pay them every single day and that is all I do. That doesn't seem like much fun to me. but at 5K/house that is basically what you have to do. Noone will ever convince people like you that you are doing some harm. It is all about you and not the community. As this is my first MMOG I kindof expected the community to be a little different. But I guess I had way too much hope in people. Go ahead ruin the ecomony. I'll just switch to a different profession and buy your factories for 12K and a Large house for 20K that I made in 2 hours of destory missions.
