Thread: effective way to use a factory?
I know you can use a factory to make components to make a house,
but does anyone have an effective formula to make actual houses with a factory?
The only thing structure factories are good for is:
1) Making personal havesters and wind generators, if you happen to need a lot of them (like for a guild)
2) Making structural modules. We use a lot of these, so this is the main use for a structure factory
3) Making some of the other components. We don't use tons of them but some schematics require identical components
Don't even bother making wall modules in a factory. You could only make 9 from a single schematic, since you'd have to use structural modules from the factory to make them. 10 of those modules (out of a 100-module batch) would be used on the schematic and the remaining 90 would be used on the wall modules themselves. Then the schematic becomes useless because you no longer have the right kind of structural modules for the job. In this way it would be a rather large waste of resources (2200 ore and 300 metal wasted to save you from having to make 9 wall modules by hand, kind of a steep price to pay). That is why nothing requires identical wall modules.
So because of that, it isn't quite worth it to make anything else in the factory.
The heavy mineral mining installation and the fusion power generator both require identical wall modules.
