Thread: Saving the Architectural Economy on Stable Servers
I think many of us have come to the conclusion that eventually the economy for architects will falter. The addition of the urban planner profession will certainly delay this demise but it is only a stop gap. Without decay or a high-rate of player turn-over the market for architects will continue to shrink.
The central tenet of this problem is that onceplayers have a comfortable size house and furniture they won't be returning very often for new products. The exception are those that move planets but this will not support the current number of Master architects and those that are still moving up the tree.
The answer is that Architects need to build something that must be replaced fairly often. It has been suggested that building decay and they must be re-deeded or repaired while this may be a valid solution it requires a completely different kind of thinking by our clients and the devs.
What would naturally be an often replaceable item that would generate a continued stream of business in the architectural market that fits with the current environment of the game? War related items: turrets, bases, outposts, guard towers, bridges. Most of these items are currently purchased via faction points and some may eventually be a part of the urban planner profession.
But what I'm referring specifically to are items that groups, PA related, or otherwise would take into battle or on raids. The key component to these items is that they get DESTROYED and have to be repurchased.
I'm not sure how the dev's would buy into this as it relates to faction points, but what if they want to guard the current system of faction bonuses they could setup a system that in order to buy these items you would need not only money to pay an architect for the deed but also faction points to Deploy them.
Let me know what you guys think. To me the real value in this is that it fits very well within the current system and solves the Architects market become static issue.
