Last night I had a master architect build a Weapon, Droid, and General Item personal crafting station for me. Since he is not a master artisan, and I am, I built all of the optional parts that can go into the crafting station. Then the build, with 450 alum (732 conductivity, not great but not poor) came out very well, but at the end of the experimentation, it still came out with a -8 functionality. What's up with that?

I'm just now deciding to finish of the business skill set to get the Master Artisan out of the way, I'm also an Architect and I build crafting stations with NO sub components in the construction and my average after experimentation is 12 - 12.5 on effectiveness (yes that's a POSITIVE number too :smileyhappy I didn't really focus on high grade metals either, I haven't seen one ounce of difference in using high grade material with a crafting station, and just using the same old machine in my house that was built with 'grind' metals.

The functionality rating is affected also by the quality of all the subcomponents.

If your subcomponents were below 50% experimented, they will have an adverse effect on the station.

If you use highly experimented subcomponents, your station can break the +15 barrier.

Think of it this way, you added some brand new, but low quality memory chips into your system. It now has the ability to use that extra memory, but you can't overclock as high, because the chips can't handle as much as the previous chip you had in there.

I hope that explanation helps.
