Thread: Power Cores: What do you Architects think?

Ok, as a Droid Engineer, I require an architect to make me power cores for some of my little guys. Fine and dandy, I don't mind interacting with others. However, there is one major issue with this requirement,

How in gods name are we to put anything that requires over 3300 units of material into a droid? Droids aren't that big, lol!

The other issue though is that this requirement makes it impossible to profit from making any droid that uses a power core. You guys would like to get at least 3cpu, so that's 9900 credits and we'd also like to get at least 3cpu, which adds on another 12000 credits. Now who in their right of mind would want to pay 23,000 credits for a (useless) power droid?

Do you architects think this is acceptable? Seems like a big fat waste to both of us to me.

Ps. Don't forgettake into account too that in real life most architects wouldn't know a robot or advanced microcircutry from a hole in the gound

The point is, ladies and gentleman, is that "bots" -- for lack of a better word -- are good. Bots are right. Bots work. Bots clarify, cut through, and capture the essence of the SWG spirit. Bots, in all of their forms -- bots for crafting, for killing thugs, for buffing, healing -- have marked the upward surge of mankind and other races. And bots -- you mark my words -- will not only save SWG, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the Empire.

Dumin,

As far as I have read, a Power Droid doesn't have any special abilities, it functions the same as an MSE Droid. Perhaps this will change some time, who knows.

As the name implies, a Power Droid can be used to recharge the power of another droid.

I wanted a Power Droid, so I made a Power Core Unit for my Droid Engineer friend. He of course gave me the Power Droid for free.

But you're right, no one would actually pay 23K for aPower Droid. I've had several DEs ask me about crafting PCUs, but none of them are willing to pay even 2 credits per units on a PCU.

uhhh, I don't want to be the one to complain about something, especially in the wrong board, but...

How can one really justify having a power droid if all it does is recharge another droid? I mean, you can only have 1 droid out at a time, so really, you can't recharge your own droids, only other people's droids... That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, now does it

I will be more then happy to make you the PCU for free, if you deliver the resources. If I was forced to buy the stuff at the bazaar I have to pay between 2.5 and 3C per unit on Flurry. So why shouldn't I charge you the same amount for a finished item (crit fails!!!!).

I dont want to start the flame between DE and Archs here, so here some solutions the devs should think about.

I think the prob is, that the Power Droid is currently just a useless piece of metal, not worth the price. So maybe the devs should give it some real function, worth 23k for a droid, or change the schematic for it, since I also think that a PCU has nothing todo inside a droid.

Ohh two more things to add.

The Power Core Unit only requires less then 2500 units of resources.

And why not change the schematic to read Light PCU, only requires less then 260 units.

Just change the Power Core to a Light Power Core and suddenly it's not too bad. Dunno if a power droid is any good or even works but that'd be a reasonable change and would reduce the resource cost tremendously.
