Thread: Can we start documenting wierd power usage on harvesters?

I planted a pre-patchBER 11 heavy mineral yesterday and put enough power in it to last till November 18th at 12 pm which was 3 and half days of power which was 6300 units of power. I came back to get some resources from it today and it only has 1600 power left in it. So it used 4700 units of power in one day! We need to get a handle on this bug. I am using 996 PE radioactive btw. Could the bug have something to do with not honoring the PE somehow when its calculating how much power is used even though it displays the proper amount of power when u put it in? Help me out here folks, please start looking at your harvester power usage.

I noticed a goofy thing with my power tonight also.

  1. Couple of days ago, I put 3.5 days worth of power in which would have lasted until tomorrow afternoon.

  2. When I checked my status tonight, it said I had zero power.

  3. The harvester was still running. Evidenced by the fact that I retrievied all the resources in the hopper then checked again about 5 mins later and there were more resources there. Also the graphic on the Operate Machinery window showed the harvester was on (button to turn off was available and scrolling bars on the sides were moving).

  4. I added 300 more units of power which the system recognized. It says, you successfully add 300 units of power. Power reserves are now at 0!!!! I immediately checked the status again and sure enough, it shows zero. However, the harvester is still working.

  5. On another harvester, I added 800 units of power. It says, you successfully add 800 units of power. Power reserves now at 250! When I checked the status, it showed 250 power. The harvester was still working.

This is really strange.

Same here.

My power usage is up about 170% (that is it is using 1.7 times the normal usage).

This is not according to some silly displayed rate or such.

I've used same harvester for 4 months now. I check them almost everyday, at least every other say and I always "tap" them at 10k each on both power and maintance so I know how much they supposed to have.

Simply right now the power usage is wacky. on average it is almost double what it used to be 4 days ago.

Im not sure power is being used at twice rate as I had previously thought. All of my per-patch harvesters that were already down required a lot of power to get them out of the negative-power-range...however, I have many that are still running & collecting even though they read empty (they likely have 1-2 days worth left, but its just not reading right).

My harvesters are behaving just the same, they have about double the power usage. However, it seems that somehow they are going into negative without stopping, but they are actually 'eating' power that does not exist, so basically the next time you put power into them you are paying power 'debts'. I would call this behaviour erratic, this calls for a bug fix in my opinion. Not only the rate at which they use power, but also the fact that they go into negative... It's not that I don't like the feature, but it's certainly not supposed to be this way.

I've been noticing the same thing with mine.

Kind of makes you wonder how long they will run into the negative.

Just stop and start the Harvestor and it should display the correct amount of power.

It appears to just be a display bug, none of mine are actually using more power than they should but they all display incorrect figures when you first look at them.

I drop like 5000 units of power into my BER-10 mediums then check status and it shows as like 4000 or something...

Ok it does look like just a display problem but a very very annoying one at that. Display said 4000 power on a BER-11 heavy at 3:30 AM today. At 11:07 AM it said 3028. Stopped harv and restarted and now it says 8000 power.

I have had problems with heavy mineral harvs - all pre-the-latest-patch ones, as well.

I topped each of my 7 to just over 4k power Friday night, Saturday they well all short power, except one. That's 4300 or so in just over 24 hours (28h?).

Then this AM I check my new gas heavy (12/m), and it used 900 overnight - totally normal. My old 10/m heavies in the same area used 1800 each, so it seems like double still. I had to re-deed and move those so we'll see if moving solves it, but I am using double power on heavy mineral harvs. Also - the two that used double had shut down overnight as well, since the steel ran out.

I don't put more than a days worth of power in at a time since resources change so much, I have to move em all the time. Cool part is, since the patch, I haven't added any power and all my harvesters just keep on chuggin. They'll fix that one soon I'm sure.

I would bet that it runs for exactly the amount of powerit would be consuming if the power usage wasnormal.

Say, for the purpose of the explanation, a harvester uses 3000 power/day; you put 6000 power in it; 24 hours after you placed it, it will probably say 0 power but it will run for 24 hours. The worst part is that after 24 hours of running with 0 power, you will need to put yet another 6000 power in it just to bring it to 0.

Well I just checked an 11 BER heavy chemicalshould have had enough power in it to last till november 17th 12 pm. Its now 3:30 am on the 16th and it reads zero power. I put 2000 units of power in it and it says energy reserves are at 627 units. These things are definetly burning up power at an extreme rate. I should have had 2500 power in the harvester but instead it was negative 1400. I'm gonna top it off at 4000 and see what it is in the morning so I can document exactly what power/hr is burning.
