i wasnt sure on what forum to go for this question.. but.. the question is.. how do you place items on table tops or desks? is that only allowed in multi-story houses and buildings? thanks.

Unfortunately, as you said, that's only possible in multistory buildings, specifically buildings with stairs. You climb the stairs to the height of what you want to place and then move the item over the object you want it 'on.' It'd be really nice if there were a way to place objects on tables but as of yet that hasn't been implemented.
