Thread: Won't touch those harvesters ^_^

I've kind of given up on making those harvesters, I can't seem to get enough good material (though I may try in the future) but I seem to do well selling houses and FURNITURE! yes! Anyone else out there just stick to one type?

Can't blame you, last night drove me crazy. Was trying to make 4 med chem extractors.

Made my first two fluidic pumps, got 90% on them. Do first final assembly, got it up to a 9 BER, not bad. Second one, good success, only got it to an 8 BER, annoying but ok. Next 2 fluidic pumps both failed on experimentation. Got another 2 good to go at 90%. Then crit failed twice in a row on the final assembly. Then tried to make more fluidic pumps, failed on experimentation.

Drove me nuts.

How does the BER work again like how does it show you how much you will extract

You can find the BER for a harvester by looking in the "operate machinery" option on the radial menu for a placed harvester. It is listed in Kg/H. Or it should also be visible my looking at the deed of a harvester when in deed form.

From the FAQ:

Q-3.5: How much do harvesters produce?

A-3.5: It is dependent on the extraction rate of the harvester in question. The extraction rates vary from harvester to harvester depending on the experimentation results during its crafting.

The general formula is:

Output per hour = Extraction rate in kg/h * 60 * density% = # units produced / hour
Output per day = Extraction rate in kg/h * 1440 * density% = # units / day

Example: A medium mineral harvester with an extraction rate of 6 kg/h on a 75% aluminum density will give you
= 6 * 60 * 0.75 = 270 units per hour production or 6480 per day

i find 13 ber harvies pretty easy using the resources i harvest ** If and on If i have no crit fails on final experimentation..1 crit fail 99% of the time means its a 12, 2 crit fails and you are looking at ber 11's , 2 crit fails and you may as well throw it away..well tbh 2 crit fails and you may as well throw it away**

Okay I have a question. I just tried making an ore mining unit and was able to fully experiment it up. But it shows the BER at 6. Is that good on just the ore mining unit before I build the actual harvester?

dont think ore mining units go above 6 i got 97% and it was still 6

ps does ne1 have the % u need for rate 13 of different harvesters as i know that at 90% minerals are rate 13 but chem flora gas and water arnt .

Also is it possible to make rate 14 heavy minerals and if so what % also for other heavys. Also is 1 rate 6 ore mining unit the same as another even if 1 is 91% and another is 97%?

Thanx

98% is also 6

As for specialization, I make only harvesters, and letely I am making only medium and heavy mineral harvs at that. A few special orders for other things, bt mineral only aside from those.

IMHO pick a specialty that people want (i.e. not medium moisture harvs), and set a low price that still makes you money. Get a huge pile of decent resources (you need is heat/shock/unit toughness all around 900-920)(you do not need uber steel), make a schematic when you get a good roll (be sure to stockpile the components as well!), and use up all your resources on that schematic. No failures in a factory

I think I sold 50 heavy minerals at 100k each off one schematic. People were very happy with the harvs and the price, and I made a decent profit.

Also, use lubricating oil when you need chem. It has no heat, shock or unit toughness stat, and so the crappiest LOil will do as well as the best fiberplast. As I understand it (I do this and it works) the reason is that any resource that does not have the required stat at all does not count for that stat. So if you're using ore and steel averaging 920 in the stats, your LOil will count as though it was 920, since it does not count at all.

One last thing, heavy Gas are the real pain in the butt, only 3 walls instead of 5-6, but like 9k resources in the final combine. So you need a much higher % of HQ stuff to make heavy gas than you do for heavy mineral or chem.

I didn't really make the important thing clear.

What counts in your final BER:

1 - most important, the % of your ore mining unit. the higher the better, and the easier it will be to get 13 in experimenting.

2 - be sure to use a HQ crafting tool and station. Not sure exactly how these work, but I believe that they do matter.

3 - ALL of the items that go into the final combine, your ore, your chem, your metal and steel, all detemrine the maximum you can get on your experimentation.

What you use in your walls, turbines, andstorage modules don't matter.

So grab good ore, lubricating oil, good steel or metal, and you'll get 13s easy.
