Thread: How can I make better Crafting Stations?
I am a Master Architect on shadowfire, and I am having trouble making really nice +40 crafting stations. i was wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom. I realize that using the best resources I can get will help, but could there be more to it? Like Aluminum is better... or Extrusive ore is better, Or dont worry about the quality of the smaller components...
Right now i make make the smaller componemts with as much experimenting as I can on Efficiency. i assume that makeing these better will ultimately help make the crafting station better. Aside from teh smaller components, the crafting station it self only requires Steel and Mineral, but metals of all sorts will go in the mineral slots... should I try to get some High Quality gemstone for this or will HQ metals be just as good?
Any suggestions or tips would be highly appreciated before I waste more Droid Storage Units.

I use copper, I only get +15 though, its Uevor or something Ouevor, dunno close to that, its conductivity is 997
best i found, but I can't find any good components so thats where im stuck, im sure if you use that copper and really good components ya can get +40
Ignore the "optional" components for a minute.
It wants 400 units of metal and 50 units of mineral. It says that the *entire* score is based on conductivity. That's it - not overall quality, not anything else - *conductivity*.
Typically the metal with the highest conductivity is copper. For the mineral, you can either use the same copper or you can use a mineral (e.g., ore, gemstone) that has NO conductivity (and thus doesn't get averaged in with the metal, pulling the final score down).
So if you load up some conductivity 99x copper and some ore, you should be able to experiment it up to 99% and something like 14.9x. That's a practical max for the "basic" station.
When you add optional components, each one of them needs to be experimented to the highest possible percentage. You experiment each component based on whatever it's schematic says is important (typically overall quality). Most folks that publish here that tell how they got to 40+ on the final crafting station say that ALL of their components are 85% or higher, and typically they have 1-2 of the components that are in the 95+% range.
Zen's got it right, I make 42.67 crafting stations on gorath with a 989 metal (not copper).
The optional compents are the reason for this. Either make them yourself or find a master artisen and a master droid engineer to make the best for you. I wouldn't accept any components under 90%. Then find yourself a good conducitivty metal, Anything under 97x or so and your wasting your time for the most part.

Nope - you hit on the head.
If you use best cond metal and ore you can find, and 80% experimented subcomponents, you'll hit the ceiling at around the mid 20's. Get one component at 95% and you're into the low 30's, get two components at 95% and you're in the high 30's, low 40's (if lucky with amazing succes), get all thre components at 90%+, say hello to 43 (& +44 if you're lucky).
here is the breakdown.
Station = +/- 15 Functionality.
Each Subcomponent = +/- 5 Functionality.
In short, each subcomponent gives a -5 rating, with +1 added for each 10% experimented.
If you want a completely accurate look at how it all works, download the spreadsheet. (You will need Microsoft Excel to use it) It will predict the maximum outcome of your crafting station to 6 decimal places, assuming every part is fully experimented.
