If you make a factory scematic of xxx item that uses 5 similar walls. Will it use any walls or does it require all the same serials?

In schematics that use walls or structure modules, you can use any wall or any structure module.

son of a! I didn't know that, lol, only been an architect for a couple weeks but still hehe been a master droid engineer for a long time and figured like everything, schematics produce items off serial numbers of components. So you are saying that if I make a wall module, it should have some sort of serial number attached to it, but in reality the schematic for say a medium miners that requires 3 wall modules, those wall modules could be hand crafted?

I need verification of this as to me that would mean I could make one wall module that was top quality, because believe me wall modules quality do affect combine failure rates, and then I could simply ground out a bunch of wall modules or structure modules without even experiement on them and throw them into my factory. In other words the factory does not consider serial numbers for wall or structure module components of a large schematic?

it would be terribly dificult for a novice to craft the first facotory that requires three walls if they needed the same seirial (hehe joke not meant to be degrading) but yesthree hand crafted wall can be used in the same shcematic

what i have noticed is that if you have the walls (or structual modules) in your backpack then open it and try to use them is doesn't letyou use them. weather you already have walls in there or not.

I am referring to a factory schematic, hehe, not to sound degrading bro but look at my master professions, I am almost a master in all crafting professions. What somebody has said in this thread is that a Factory Schematic does not recognize serial numbers on the components for wall or structural modules.

This means I could do say 5 factory runs of structure modules, make 1 uber wall modules factory schematic, produce the 1665 wall modules from this 1 schematic using those 5000 struct modules, then I could take these wall modules and put them into any factory uber mineral schematic and it work as long as i have the correctly serialized generator turbine, etc. and it would produce these uber modules.

This is not possible in other professions and do not feel the need to waste time testing it if somebody already knows.

For example there is a known exploit where at one time, a very brief time, krayt tissues dropped that had no serial numbers. Thus if I were to get ahold of one of these tissues, make a schematic, I could use any serial tissue as the schematic does not call for a certain serial number. so whether it is a +80 dmg krayt tissue or a +300 krayt tissue. If I used a +600 dmg non-serialized bugged tissue, it would still make a gun that had +600 dmg added to it instead of +80 dmg like the real tissue would produce.

So the question still stands, is this the way wall and structure modules work? As it stands right now I was under the belief that the max you could factory run a medium chemical miner was 32 deeds before the schematic became useless. I thought that you could only make 99 wall modules from a schematic, and then make only 32 sets of 3 wall modules used in a miner schematic. Follow me?

You can make 1000 walls off a wall schemtic. The reason for this is if you look at the schemtic for wall modules, you will see that the structure module componet is not seralized... it says crafted item, or something to that effect.

Now this brings a interesting question. I have not made a installation schemtic in a long time, but i would venture to guess that the serial number for the wall module is present in the schemtic. However, if you happen to make one and it says, crafted item, or something to that effect like the wall module does then any wall would work.

However, if it does record the serial number and require the idential walls that were made by the schemtic, then I would ask this... why not use 3 different wall schemtics... and would this even work. Since the wall modules only have to be similar, and not exact, if you used three different ones, then the final would either require 3 different ones as well, the same used for the schemtic or it would require 3 crafted ones, and thus any wall would do.

This is a interesting question and deserves more study. However I can tell you with absolute certinaty that you can make 1000 walls from a schemtic, and that the structure modules are not serial specific when it comes to wall construction. In other words, I can make a structure module schemtic called SM-A and make a wall module schemtic with 10 blocks from this SM-A and make WALL-A. Now i can then make SM-B, SM-C, SM-D.... etc.. till i have 10 schemtics of 1000 blocks giving me 10,000 blocks. I can then load all of those blocks into the factory and make 1000 walls, irregardless of the serial numbers of the structure modules. This works only because the wall module schemtic has "crafted structure module" in the structure requirement, and is not serialized. Of course this doesn't work as well as you would think cause the stupid factory wont pull the structure modules out of the crates to make wall modules. Which i believe is directly tied to this question. Since i can use any structure modules in a wall module schemtic, i believe this is why it wont work in crates.

Folks - the serial number of the structure modules and wall modules DOES NOT MATTER! It is NOT recorded and NOT used.

You can take an arbitrary mixture of 10 structure modules - hand-made, from factory crates, hand-made by a friend - whatever - and use them to make a wall schematic. Then load up your factory with that schematic, the raw resources, and *ANY* structure modules that you have laying around. Push the button and watch the walls come out.

Apply EXACTLY that logic to using walls in schematics for harvesters. Make the schematic using whatever walls you have, load it up, and dump any walls you have into the input hopper. Hit the go button. Watch the harvesters come down the chute.

Just a clarification for the old-timers - the serial numbers USED to matter, but yup,it appears they don't anymore. I wanted to make a run of Heavy Minerals, so I did one run of 16 walls, and then, using 1000 run of structure modules, did a separaterun of 96 walls. I figured this way, I could make 15 Heavies...

So after going through all this trouble to get the most heavies out of a schematic, loaded the schematic in and instead of specifying 1 wall of a certain serial and 6 walls of the separate serial, it just plainly asks for 7 walls per...

DOH

All that waste But next time, I'll know better

I still can't get any schematic that uses walls to actually work. Doesn't want to use the walls whether they are in a crate or individually in the ingredient hopper.

You get an email when the factory stops. What message does it give?

I've made hundreds of heavies in the factory. I've never paid the slightest attention to wall batches - any walls work fine.

Thank god they fixed making walls in factories

Oh Yea you are so right there Sevarhin, I would NEVER have been able to make those 500 harvesters I did in the last month without factory walls !

Sitting here grinding 3000 walls individually.. and where would I put them .. urg that's too horrible a thought to contemplate.
