Thread: SMart?
It can be a pain to remove from sale and collect from the stockroom, pull out the quantity you want and then put the remainder up for sale again each time you want some resources. I prefer to put backpacks of components (walls, gen turbines, sssms etc.) on the vendor and store resources in bags in my houses (3 of them).
Whatever you do, if you put resources or components on a vendor remember to price them at 99999999, and don''t forget, if you haven't withdrawn them for some time they will automatically fall into the stockroom after 30 days then 7 days later...poof !
Components I have in backpacks in my crafing house.
I don't know if it is "smart" or not (because someday it may bite me) but I use a vendor for almost ALL of my storage. I have a showroom that shows off a lot of the furniture, and I would have to get 1-3 more houses and/or factories to store my resources and components.
One of the wonderful things about using a vendor is how things "sort" together. For example, if you have a backpack with 2 types of aluminum and 3 types of steel in it, even switching to the alternate (list) view and sorting, multiple stacks of exactly the same stuff will NOT necessarily sort together, so you still have to hover over each stack to see what they are. In a vendor, at least on the same "page", all of the XYZ aluminum sorts together so you can quickly grab 200K for a generator turbine run. It also makes it easier to add up your stacks, so you know how much you have of some key resources.
However, if I make a schematic for something that I really really want to "milk" for a long time, I might put the resources for it into a named backpack just to make sure I don't accidently use them up for something else.
