Thread: Renewable income?

OK yes I am a new architect. I just stocked my vendor with several BER13 harvesters and 14 fusions. While notsellinglike hot cakes they did move. I also placed sevral houses wich i have yet to sell any. I do not feel like grinding out run after run of furniture as I believe the results will be the same as the houses.

MY question is that since harvesters seee, to be our life blood what happens after the hologrind? The market will more than likely flood with harvesters people dont use. Since these dont decay how am I supposed to make money? Clothes decay, food is used, armor decays fast, and weapons decay. We have nothing of any value that decays(well decays permanently). We need a significant renewable income. Maybe artillery pieces(Combining WS parts)for sieging AH or BEstine. Just give us something.

Candles.

Ha ha. I crack myself up.

Sorry to joke there. But ya. Seriously we've got no renewable income really.

Candles are supposed to decay but they still remain lit if they aren't moved so thats pretty much broke.

There is some repeat business from people whos deeds burned up due to lack of maintenance but thats probably pretty small compared to the initial sales we've had.

Yes, i can see into the future...out in the deserts of Tatooine, on a small moisture farm in the dunes...the family gathers for the annual shindig....in the drawing room the family elders sit and smoke and swap stories from back in the day....6 year old Billy snuggles on his grandfathers lap and listens to tales of derring-do, of adventure, of heroes and of villains, of those who went to war and returned, and those who didn't....

Great Uncle Tobias : I was on the front line in the Galactic Civil War of course, fighting for our freedom, ah, the friends I lost....but those were good times even so, came home to a heroes welcome you know, medals, parades, the whole shebang, only fitting though, after all I played a pivitol role in our victory.

Great Uncle Tomas : Ah, but where would you have been without the crafters like me? working underground through the thick smoke of battle, making the very best body armour to replace the suit you had ruined with your careless bravado, think how much we did to help in the great and final victory.

Great Uncle Jonas : Yes that's right, and dont forget us weaponsmiths either, We had to keep you all supplied with pistols and blasters throughout, it wasn't easy trying to keep up with you soldiers you know, fast as we were making 'em, you were burning 'em out. You owe a large part of your victory to us you know.

/pause

Billy : Grandad, you were in the SWG as well weren't you ?

Grandad : Errr....well yes, of course.

Billy : Well what did you do to help the cause ?

Grandad : Hrrmphhh, yes, well, I made things to, hrmmmphhh

Billy : What did you make then?

Grandad : Yes, well, I've told you before boy, some things are best not mentioned, hrmmphhh

Billy : Oh go on Grandad, tell me, tell me

Grandad : ......

Great Uncle Tobias : Go on Lomas, tell the lad

Grandad : ......

Great Uncle Tomas : Come on Lomas, tell him

Grandad : ......

Great Uncle Jonas : Go on Lomas, he should know

Grandad : ......

Billy : Grandad?

This issue needs to be adressed before the jedi revamp hits.

Ideas: Limited number of re-deeds: like 10 or so would be fair

Gradual decay

Increased maintenence as the harvesters gets older

Losses efficency.

Goda, the lack of renewable income or structure decay has been something people have been pointing out off and on for the past 6-9 months. If we had listened to some players 6 months back we'd all have been out of business 3 months ago due to it. It may or may not at some point virtually kill off our profession altogether. But it hasn't happened yet. I think what is happening right now is that our business has shifted from the high growth phase to the sustaining phase. We've been asking for something to give us renewed business for quite a while. A while ago we got ... candles.

ROFL. Thanks Bandola.

I'm gonna rush home tonight and make some crates of "Freedom Candle", "Patriot lamp" and "Free Standing Lamp of Revolution" and then put up a bag sign that says "Please contribute to the revolutionary cause by buying our candles". LOL!

I enjoy architect very much, BUT i see it becoming a dead profession soon. Sales for me have dropped 70% and i do not see an increase in the future. Having one of the largest inventory on my server i do not see people jumping at this nor my low prices.

I made 50 of each harvester ( personal, medium, and heavies) and i am doing a run not of 50 of each type medium and heavies. And i am calling it quits after that. Not for good, i will not drop architect but i will wait and see what our future may bring. Atm i have well over 1500 harvesters and homes not including the run of 600 more im doing now. I havent sold many and will not waste resources making more.

Instead i picked up droid engineer and have had much fun playing with that area.

My advice for new architects:

1) Dont, architects are a dime a dozen on most servers. It will be hard to start up a business with out income. And a well established architect would get more business.

2) If you do ( which i wish you the best of luck) pick up another useful profession. DE, WS, AS, Chef and go into that heavily and use architect as a second class profession.

3) Furniture is actually one of my largest sellers atm, i mean who cant afford 300c to 3000c for a piece of furniture.

Dont get me wrong, i hope everyone the best when seekin to be new in this profession, but atm it is unsure if we will die off or rebound and actually have a way of makin a living.

I think right now the economy as a whole is in a recession. I don't think it is just the architect business. This is due to the end of the hologrind, some players leaving the game for whatever else, and people being busy with spring related stuff. However I think that things will pick up more once we hit summer and then again when JTL gets out.
