Anyone know why a guild hall holds the same number of items as a large house? I mean 250 items in alarge house barely fits everything i want to put in it, much less enough for a guild hall. Why did the devs make it like this?

because they set the max to 250, presumably to limit the number of items on the database.

Probably, 'cause the game mechanics are based on 75 items with a max of 250.

Because their database is inadequate to play the game the designed, they nerfed storage limits in the early days of the game.

I suppose it was determined .. maybe by the designers, who may or may not be the developers, that an adequate item limit for 'decore' items was 250.
I wonder how the SWG team is setup. If it is like the software projects I have been on it could be

The point I was going to make is that the Developers (Devs) may not be the masters of their destiny we assume them to be.

It could be more of a performance issue than anything. They might have found that the servers were spending too much time sorting and searching the database so it was holding everything up and inducing lag and such. It might have just been a choice to limit database size just to keep the servers running faster more than any kind of size limitations.

but the items are inside, so they don't even get loaded up until you enter the house, even then it takes like 30 seconds to load them...

If you want to know *what* the item limits are, then this is the right place.
If you want to know *why* the item limits are what they are, then the Architect forum is an "ok" place to talk about that, and many people can speculate and/or tell you about the devs stated reasons for doing things.
If you want to argue that the current item limits are dumb, then you'll find that a lot of us agree with you. But our agreeing with you and $3 will buy you a cup of coffee - it's not going to influence the developers at all.

When the items are loaded for you then thats on the client side.
Whether an item is loaded on your client or not, all items are always stored in data form somewhere on the server side. Its the database on the server side that is apparently what they wanted to limit. Long time ago they nerfed the melons you got as a newbie and the database was cited as a reason. (Personally I think that was probably hogwash.)
