Yes this is the old System manufacturing error_7... The devs are aware of this problem and are working on how to fix it..

It annoys the heck out of me too..

One thing that seems to help a bit is if you experement on the storage of the factories. ..

I think I've seen this bug before but it only became truly annoying since they've stopped downing the servers daily (and yes I do feel it's a bit ironic to find a reason to complain about this change).

Anyway onto the series of events that have basically locked 2 of my factories:

I loaded 2 of my factories with full runs (1,000 item schematic) of Small Structure Storage Modules (SSSM henceforth).

I turn them on. It seems like even though there should be room in the input/output hopper for it to continue running it will stop at around 500 units made.

I then, on both factories, emptied the output hopper into the input hopper and restarted the run.

This time after making 250 it would stop.

(Note: at this point on 1 of the factories I emptied out the WHOLE thing. This means that I have 1 stack of resources in the input hopper and nothing in the output hopper.)

Output hopper -> Input Hopper and restart.

This time it would only make 120 before stopping.

Output hopper -> Input Hopper and restart.

60 this time...

Output hopper -> Input Hopper and restart.

30 this time...

Output hopper -> Input Hopper and restart.

10 this time.

At this point it will not produce any more. I proceed to remove the schematic and destroy it. I'm only missing 30 so no big, big deal. After removing everything from one factory (no schematic loaded, both hoppers empty) I loaded a schematic for 500 Structure Storage Modules (SSM). The problem is when I start the factory it makes 0 and quits.

So with nothing in the input hopper except for 2 stacks of steel and nothing in the output hopper it makes 0. I've tried various other schematics and nothing will produce in this factory. I'd just pick it up and replace it but this, and several of my other factories, were placed by friends on other servers and I'd prefer not to bother them every couple of days when I do a SSSM run to replace the factories. Besides the bother it would be finding a militia member to grant me zoning rights.

Additionally: Checked Maint/Power on both and they have well over 50k in each.

Anyway if you've made it this far thanks for taking the time. I was just wondering if anyone else can/has reproduced this and how you solved it. It would seem that the server resets handled this problem nicely in the past but since they don't happen anymore this problem has become more...err...problematic.

Thanks for listening and suggestions are appreciated.

Ive had same problem with 2 of my factories and posted on the bug thread about it. I beg ya to post there too lol so maybe they will listen.

CSRs replaced my 2 problem factories but seems 2 others are having problems now. And yah I think it has to do with no daily downtime.

I think this is the same bug that used to be the manf_schem_7 (or something) bug, where you get an email stating there is an output hopper error. It usually occurs around 500 items when it's the first time. A server restart fixes this and I heard that replacing the factory should too, but I never tried that. Anyway, this doesn't really help you, but maybe you could try redeeding and replacing the factory.

VERY know issue.. try searching for "manufacturing error".. you should get just over 1k hits. Personally, I'm getting so aggravated with the whole thing, I'm contemplating bumping the lot of them to draw attention to the issue. I've got two factories that stop at 20 and 30% respectively.. the rest anywhere from 40-90 and I'm just a tad fed up with losing resources to lousy programming and indifference to known issues because it's more fun to make money from an expansion pack than to fix bugs in the game people bought initially.

Yes its the same error we have had all along and Ive had it happen before but atm all 6 of my factories wont allow more than 24 items .. some wont make any at all. I have emptied all my hoppers, tried new schemes, relogged, etc and nothing is fixing it .. especially the ones that wont produce anything.

With daily resets gone to temp fix it itsbeyond an annoyance. There maybe only some having this problem to a high degree now but I hazzard a guess to say it will hit more and more as time goes on. Im logging in now to redeed them tho I fear I will be forced to redeed every other day and give up all storage for OMUs, GTsetc.

The FAQ entry is below. It will send you an email error message if the factory quits in this way. It used to say "system_msg:manuf_error_7" but now it says "Internal Manufacturing Error"

Q-4.1: My factory is giving me an "Internal Manufacturing Error" email message and is not finishing the schematic run. What do I do?

Unfortunately this is a known bug. You will get an email message with subject "Internal Manufacturing Error" and body saying "Manufacturing station unable to create crate to store objects in, please file a bug report." And the factory run will be incomplete. Mostly it seems to happen when the output and/or input hoppers are mostly full. If it occurs you can usually get past it by removing items from the factory's output hopper. Some people have reported that redeeding the factory helps. Some people believe that experimenting on the factory's storage rating during creation of the factory deed helps avoid this. Note the email subject used to be:""@system_msg:manf_error_7" but it was changed to the "Internal Manufacturing Error" mesage.

Thanks for all the responses.

And to think I initially felt doing away with the server resets was a good thing.

Looks like Struc Mods in all the factories my friend placed and the rest on my factories so I can redeed them when needed.

Does redeeding always work or does the factory hold onto this missing space?

I've not tried redeeding, but I would imagine it does the same thing a server restart does... it resets them. So you'd be ok for the next run and then it would start winding down again.
