Proposal for a New Structure: The Warehouse

Managing multiple components, resources, and overstock is a very hard task. Finding room to store it, without cluttering up your shop, is even harder. To date, the only means of storing all the components, sub components, resources, and overstock is one of two methods: Listing all items on a vendor for 99 million credits or filling the ingredient hoppers of countless factories.

A new simple structure should be introduced to solve these problems: the warehouse. Below I have outlined the characteristics of such a structure, but feel free to add your own suggestions and feedback in followup replies.

The Warehouse

Who would construct a warehouse?

Architects, naturally, would obtain the ability to crafta warehousewhen they gained enough skill to learn the second box of Installations.

Who would be eligible to own and operate a warehouse?

Architects, Armorsmiths, Shipwrights, Droid Engineers, Weaponsmiths, Tailors, Chefs, Smugglers, Bio-Engineersand Doctors(Thank you electorate)would be allowed to manage and/or place a warehouse.

What types of items would the warehouse be limited to?

The only items that could be placed in a warehouse would be resource containers and factory crates.

How many items could the structure hold?

Between 500-1000 items I think would be a sufficient amount of storage fora largewarehouse. Below I define different sizes of warehouses and the item limits I believe each should hold.

Could other players be added as administrators to the structure?

Only if they are Novice in one of the eligible classes mentioned above.

Would there be different types or sizes of warehouses available to be built?

Warehouses could be broken down into three sizes:

  • Small - Holds 250-300 items. Takes 1 lot. Can only have one administrator besides the owner.

  • Medium - Holds 350-400 items. Takes 2 lots. Can only have three administrators besides the owner.

  • Large - Holds 400-500 items. Takes 3 lots. Can only have five administrators besides the owner.

  • Industrial - Holds 750-1000 items. Takes 5 lots. Can have an infinite number of administrators besides the owner.

Thereshould beat least a style one and style twofor each size as well, but even on style and one size would be awesome.

Would the a warehouse be open to the public? Why?

No. The warehouse is for storageonly. The public has no need to see what items you are crafting up. Some subcomponentsof other componentscan be experimented on in special ways to produce a different, more desireable result. If the percentages of these subcompoents were available for all tosee, then everyone would know your secret. Perhaps, the option should still bethere to make the structure public, but Ithink it's better off left private.

Would vendors be allowed in the structure?

No. These structures are mainly to drive people away from using vendors as storage devices.

Well, I think that should cover all of it. If anyone has nice suggestions to add to this list, I will be more than glad to go back and add them to the original proposal.

This needs to be done. Dont forget the Doctors too to your list. Better yet any profession that crafts should have the ability to use one. I keep running out of space. The devs need to realize that there are people that have actually been around for over a year now and we tend to acumulate things. If this doesnt fly, then the capacity of houses needs to be increased at the very least.
