A thread here was just deleted where someone was promoting a contest they are having on a specific server.

Is it off topic to have any server specific topics here at all?

e.g. Can Ipromotea Kettemoorinterior design contest here?

Or did you interpet that deleted post as a veiled WTB ad? He was offering 1M prize for a bag of furniture items worth probably 50-200k.

Yeah they also advertised it on the server forum but i was the only Architect to actually take part in the contest and hence won the two 1 million prizes myself. It was a good way for the Architect profession to get a needed boost of activity and credits for some crafting time.

It was fun actually making things to try to win the prizes and i assume he advertised it here as well as no one bar myself noticed the post in the server forum and replied to it.

Ya thats the one. He advertised it here and they deleted the thread.

It looks like they deleted all the threads that were server specific. I noticed several had cropped up over the last few days and all are gone now. While I didn't mind that specific one (it was interesting to see what someone else was doing... and the lack of response), overall that cleanup needed doing. Otherwise it was going to spawn copycats thinking, "ah, they'll only lock my thread, but folks will still see it, and that's all I want anyway."

Ya they should probably delete the offending posts. If they lock it then it will drop off the front page but will still get some exposure and still clutter up things here.

I am just curious if ALL server specific stuff is off limits here. I know that WTB/WTS ads are not allowed by SOE here, they've said that.But what about other stuff? I think they've also locked/deleted stuff where people are advertising for guild members or similar. Are there any server specific things that would be OK here? Where do they draw the line exactly?
