Ok, here it goes. . . on Flurry we have had a recycle of the residential painting. So, I took it upon myself to see if I can get one of the paintings that have never hit our server (i.e. we have never had the mon-cal paintings). So I decided to do the painting quest and vote to see if i can help.
Well i went and spoke to the three people I'm supposed to and it seems they are not even giving me the option to vote on one of the paintings that is new. Here is what they said:
First Person - likes to paint buildings. . to me this means lucky despot, blue leaf temple, residential house, etc
second person - pains his journey on tatooine . . .to me this means krayt skeleton or maybe one of the ugly plants
third person - like to recreate life pictures. . particularly petals and flowers. . .this means to me the golden petals collection
All of the mentioned paitings has been on Flurry, what's the deal. Can anyone help?
I'm confused.

Neeva them people just tell you their story. You have to go back to the curator to vote. If I remember correctly.

At the point your at now, you would then go back to the museum curator and then tell him which one of the three you liked the best...say, residential house for example. Then in theory if enough people concur with you the next painting will be a building of some kind.. Its a pretty vague process honestly.

I guess my point was that we have never had the mon-cal paintings on flurry and none of these artist sounded like they woul d make that painting? All of their responses sound like paintings that we have had.

The paintings are random (as far as I know) and are picked from the most voted on category, which is what the quest does.

The paintings are starting to repeat. There are only 15 paintings total and we've already gone through 13 of them. So at this point 1 or more of the choices in the vote will be a repeat. And I don't now how they pick the artists we vote from. It may be random and we might be choosing from 3 paintings we've already had.
THis is what the painting thread in Items and Loot forum says about the artists and what paintings they'll give us:

I don't know any more detail then that.

That's an interesting list to have. I'm curious though, if there are that many artists, why the curator only gives you a list of 3 (I think that is how many I got last time). I wonder if the artist options he gives are random or if it only gives you artist choices that you haven't received all the paintings from.

Its probably just a random choice where we get 3 of the 6 possible artists. Or maybe they rotate them. /shrug. Honestly I never vote myself so I haven't paid any attention.
I think they do have something to try and avoid repeats to some degree otherwise we'd have probably started to see a random repeat pop up after a few rounds. But I'm pretty sure they also want to avoid having the vote be between 3 very similar styles of paintings (e.g. 3 plants). So they probably do something to balance the two objectives.
