Ask you customers to trade you for ore and/or share the orders with established architects on your server (unless you quoted a price lower than the others

Its always better to have more business than you need than to not have enough business.
You could...
Take off your master architect flag and make your character non-searchable. That will cut down the /tells pretty good.
-or-
Tell people it will be X days before you can fill the order. You can pad the time estimate some to give yourself some time and then fill them at a more leisurely pace.
-or-
Raise your prices.

5 stars for great advice. Always keep in mind that another architect will remember you if you refer business his way as well. Good way to make contacts. Tell the customers you cannot service who they can go to, and tell them to say you sent them.

You can also ask for cash in advance to help you buy the resources needed. This will also help you to not get burned if someone doesn't fall through with the order.

I think you should hide. When I don't feel like crafting/surveying/service harvesters/other boring mundane architect tasks, I go and kill a bunch of stuff on my combat character. It helps if it's not widely known who your combat alt is.
Btw, forwarding customers to other architects is not necessarily a good thing, since they're more likely to remember the other architect rather than you, despite the fact that you sent them to that someone. So when you do do it, be aware that there could be consequences for doing so.
