Is it just me or does ore always have a crappy spawn percentage. I cant seem to find anything above 35%. Is this how it is or am I missing something?

It does tend to be crappy. I nearly fainted when I found a 70% once. I usually have to settle for 50% or so, and someone who's at home during the day usually beats me to it.
It's also got a huge area spread, which makes it harder to locate the center with the best %

That's about how it works.
Most ore caps out at around 70% (but I've heard it theorized that anything this high is really two 35's overlapping).
You can find the JTL ore (fermionic siliclastic ore) upwards of 90% but it only spawns on one planet at a time and usually for about 20 days.

Ok so pretty much the 35% that I found is about as good as I should expect then? I just didnt want to drop on it and then find out I was a dumb a@# for not looking harder lol. I guess I'm being lazy too.. havent tried any other planets.. just naboo...or should I try on another planet??

you should try other planets as well, in my opinion, on my server, naboo has too much cities and unleveled landscape and many high % spawns are usually in these places. I do my mining mostly on Talus outside Imperial outpost as there are more flat lands and less habitat. Well this is only an idea!

This is the best option. Unless the spawn is on Dathomir or any other difficult-to-build planet, it's very easy to find a 90%+ spawn on some piece of flat land. If you put down 10 heavies on a 90% spot for 2 weeks, you'll get a nice 2.3 million ore. You will never have to search for those crappy 50-60% spots again, unless you need Carbonate Ore for Generator Turbines of course.

35% isn't too bad. Prior to JTL, I'd go for spawns between 45-55. You have to figure that you can't look forever. Usually I plant once I find a good spawn spot. That's a lot of harvest time where you harvest nothing.

Yeah that took some getting used to when i first started also...i would look for hours, and then only find 50%.. Was talking to my old guild leader and she said that is good! And i about poo-dooed my pants, cause i thought the higher the better.....dont settle for less philosophy was the right one.
Anyways... someone said they go to talus and mine for ore there. I do the same, as a matter of fact, I live there cause the harvesting is excellent for my materials. Always have had excellent luck on finding good concentrations on some good flat spots.

The other option is just to static your harvesters and take the ore spawns underneath. While sometimes you'll get really poor spawns, other times they'll be pretty decent.

HOT TIP !!!!!
Go for Fermionic ore ( the new ore for ship builders)
The precentage is normaly 90-95% and is all over planet AND LAST FOR 2 weeks !!!!

Do you have to have JTL to see that ore? I can't recall running across it since I returned a month ago.

You don't need JTL to see the ore, it exists for everyone.
Static mining will net you probably 35% average for ore. I've done it for about a year on Sunrunner.
