Thread: Architect vs. Weaponsmith Profit Margins?
I've just discoved an interesting phenonom after looking at the of the general pricing in Galaxies. The consensious here seems to be that 4-6 cr/unit seems to be a fair price for structures. Yet with weaponsmiths it seems they are getting closer to 20 cr/unit.
Can someone help me understand this? Shouldn't it be the other way around because houses don't degrade as wepaon do?
I'm just starting out as a novice architect and I am not complaining at all. I just wanted to share my thoughts.
20c is on the low side. Thats talking a run of the mill everyday decent gun. You want the best, I've seen them go to 166c per unit.
Problem is, even at 20, most people could never afford our wares, and since there are so many of us, and we have to sell to stay in business, we have to pay what people are willing to pay.
Thats not much. They just don't see the value in a house like they see in a good gun.
The problem is there are a whole load of weaponsmith's that can't even give their wares away. That is due to the disparity in quality between a newbie crafted gun and a master crafted gun along with the fact that a fighter can level up to higher level weapons much faster than a weaponsmith can level up to make them.
So an architect may charge less per resource, but they are able to easily sell their crafted items much earlier in their professional development.
A big part of the issue is that good guns are very useful, whereas good houses aren't very much.
The only people who really need houses are merchants who want to sell stuff in vendors. Anyone else who buys a house is using iteither as storage or a luxury item.
Everyone but TK need guns, and the better ones are super useful. I know someone selling good level Vibroknuckles for 10k a pop. That's more than most people sell a small house for! Why? Because VK are much more usefull to a brawler than a house ever would be.
If the devs ever fix the dang admin problems with houses so they allow people to truly share them, they will be much more useful.
