i hear that only 5 cities max per planet. Every PA has a master architect that is going to grind the day it comes out to be first. so whats going to happen to the sixth PA that tries. Notice how i dont mention a non-PA village because sadly...

You have no hope in getting a real city based on their proposal

i know its not right but its what their going to force us to do.

Just wondering some feedback if you know anything that any csr or dev hapened to tell you and if you do Credibility please. Give us a Name not just say "oh some CSR told me their doing NERF NERF NERF etc"

I saw this info in another post about 5 cities...hmmmm will try to look for it. It came from a person who posts here and says he got it straight from the Devs that they are considering only 5 cities...... If this is true then there will be some serious grinding going on to be one of the first 5 PA's.......Could end up with 5 great citiesthat are fun or 5aweful cities based upon what PA gets em.....Lets hope HT has one....y'all would have a blast with us.

Only problem I have with this MYTH ( yes I said MYTH becuse it has not been said by a dev yet ) is that it KILLS the politcan Class. That means there really can only be say maybe 80 politcans in the game. This is where I get my math.

8 buildable planets x 5 = 40

Lets say there is two politicans per city so 40 x 2 = 80

So whats the pioint of even having a politican class ? why not just make politican a TAG and not even a profesion. Meaning anyone who gets the votes can become one? I Love the idea of there being a Politican Class. Hell I already started working a char towards it. I am just mastering Merchant skills and leaving the rest of my skill points open.

Why would they create a whole new profession for 5 cities per planet? This rumor and the 50 buildings to be a city rumor are just that, rumors. And will more than likely turn out to be false.

The best post I have seen was this one. Can't remember who posted it, but he said he was getting his info from the live chats with Devs. This is not directly from the devs, so is a bit of a myth too:

With talking with Dev's in live chat, this is what I was told..... However knowing SOe it will change 50 more times, and end up nothing like this, but this is the overall concept.

UP : Skill Trees

1 - Player Amminites - things such as shuttle ports, med centers, cantinas, (different styles, and planet spec. types of each will be made)

2 - Infastructure - Here is where we build Arc's, cobbled streets, walls, city likes, and park, things like that

3 - SuperSturctures - This is like furniture, non usadble buildings, skyscarppers what not to had looks and feeling to a city

4 - Some debate is still over the fourth skill tree, needless to say it much like consturction tree. (lol meaning useless) persoanally I think it should be Exscvation, but hell what to I know.

Novice UP = 1 - New Deed City Hall, and lots of new compents

Master UP = Top End Player Building, Sky Scrappers, and Infastructure

Here is the only problem I see with the overall UP class, listed as follows.......

1 - Walks hand in hand with the Politican Class, since only the Mayor of the town can place city buildings

2 - Too Close to other Player Cities, and Static Cites, building not allowed, meaning only a certain number of each building will be allowed Peroid.....

3 - Cities must reach certain sizes before the player buildings can be added (ie player city of 10 people dont get nothing but a city hall, plyer cities of 100+ get everything) (looking at how Pa's are done ohhhhh boy they going to be some pissed off people)

4 - The biggest problem, Greedy Politican, from my understanding the Taxes collected are going to go dierectly to the mayor, (BAD IDEA) this means for a couple of weeks a player can take all the taxes, and then leave the city, resign his post, and make off with all the money...... See this changing in a hurry.........

Currently as the system is being created, it will only allow the introduction of about 6-12 new cities per planet, pending on how fast the cities grow, and only the first 3-5 will get all the player buildings, as they grow their range of influnce increases, until every spot (cept dead zones around static cities are over run)

The last major problem, you think PA halls are a pain to build, currenly we are the most open class needing only certain types of material, ie steel, ore, but not certain spec types of material (ie Diatium Steel, or intursive ore) to build our buildings.... Player Building as the like will more than likly include spec resourses in creation, need vast ammounts (you though it took a lot to build a PA hall, wait till you build a cantina)

As far as release, as early as next month, withnew big patch, and monthly story, if not, then the following month..... As it is slated that Creature mounts are comming in Oct/Nov, and player Vech during the Christmas Season (anyone thinking another 39.95 for expassion rather than a patch lol)

Check the Dev fourm there is live chat weekdays, where you can learn about lots of planned things, things they thought would work, and didnt, and a few exciting ideas for the future that, we havn't even thought of, but someone there has..... lol

I hope this gives a little insite into the UP, but like I said with SOE it can all change, so keep reading the dev fourms and looking for tid bits....

Not only does it kill the politician class, but it kills the urban planner class pretty effectively too. If only 5 cities can be built per planet, there won't be much demand. I tend to lean towards the idea that this is just a rumor.

It would be cool to be able to build something like off-planet cities that could be concidered to be on a moon or asteroid or even a space station. You could have a special shuttleport in the current cities that only flew to offworldplayer cities in that system. At first, you would have to pay for access to the city, but later on,player cities could then build their own shuttleport that would allow either free access to everyoneor wouldallowpeople to be charged different ratesby the city based on whether or notthey were citizens there. One of theexsistinggame cities could be selected as ahomecity withan instantaneous transport, and all others would have a wait to travel to them.

That would solve some of the house crowding around major cities by allowing people ready-access to them without crowding the surrounding landscape. And the city would be a nice flat landscape on which to build, and new land could be annexed (with increased maintanence for the city) by a politician as needed.

The problem as I see it and everything I have seen from what the devs and everyone else is saying is not that there is a set limit on the number of total PC's that can be built. The system has no arbitary number where it cuts off the ability to be declared a city. Rather, there just won't be space on the planets for more the x number of cities.

So presently established cities, Tusken's Bane on the Chilastra server for instance, need not worry about being this so called "6th city." They're not going to be told that they just can't become a city because 5 other pa's on tatooine have powered their way there. The problem is going to arise a few months form now when all build zones are taken.

On kind of an off topic note...has anyone given any thought to how player cities will initially declare themselves? Like, can anyone build a city hall and then have the houses grown around it and its "sphere of influence" or will their be terminals in the cities...or a command maybe.../makeplayercity...

My understanding of establishing a city is much like establishing a PA. A person drops the city hall and is the mayor for the first week. The outpost now exists. Anyone with a house that they declare primary residencewithin the radius of the PA hall (125m to start)can become a citizen. They will probably have to go to a City Hall terminal and declare citizenship. As more citizens declare citizen ship the radius of city limits expands. Total swag 0-10 125m, 11-30 250m, 31-50 500m, 50-99 750m, 100+ 1000m.

As they said in their post there will be 5 levels of cities outpost, village.... metropolis. As the city gets bigger, and the politician gets more XP more and more city structures will be allowed.

As the poster said, the big problem is going to be the minimum distance from NPC cities and other city halls. The easiest place to build a player city will be on Dantooine. Very few NPC cities lots of space. Naboo and Corellia are gonna be tough. I hope in the future they release a few more planets open for colonization and player cities like Dantooine.
