Ok im an archtect these harvester runs are so boring, SOE doesnt give us vehicles, nor do they fix the only droid that can help us with these runs from what im hearing the Binary Load lifter is supose to help us with harvester runs. Ok this is so unfair, does dev's at SOE realize how much a pain and boring it is to make these runs takes me 1 hour to run to al my harvesters a day. This is one of the reason why so many people are leaving. We have no vehicles not even one, and we have no Binary lifter. We get both bad ends of the stick, do we see a fix coming up soon for at least the lifter NO. Another problem is structural modules in CRATES they just dont work in the factory's at all it would save me massive amount of time if they would work in the factory's to create walls. Every one else tell me there factory's work like weaponsmiths and doc's but archtect which have to deal with just as boring crafting has to go through this problem every day. Hey lemme hear how you Archtect's feel on this issue and you other crafters.

I pretty much only harvest ore. I buy the rest on the market or from PA members. This allows me to keep up with the resource I need most. It also lets me travel to one spot to empty harvesters. I occasionally run 1 or two harvesters on different resources, like Gas or Chemicals and a Fusion Generator of course. Most of the time, I only travel to get power and ore. It is not all that bad. And I never waste ore making a schematic for a wall. Everything uses similiar walls now, I just make a crate of 100 modules and then build walls as needed. It takes so little time. Good luck to you.

Try only harvesting one thing and trading for rest... thats what your supposed to do.

For thoughs of us hardcore enough and have enough time, we mine everything we need and trade for little. I have over 30 harvester to run to so dont cry to me about going to all your harvesters. I spend about an hour and a half to two hours going to them everyday.

You could

A. put money in for 2 days to cut your time in half

B. Only mine one or two resources

C. Get Hot spots that are all in a line with eachother. That way u just run straight and hit all of your harvesters on the way, instead of running all around to random spots.

D. Nothing much more.... After 2 months or however long its been im used to the good ol' Harvester run. I go through my e-mail along the way and keep track of my sales, craft along the way to stock my vendor, and also read the boards while im doing harvester run.

I follow these forums regukakry but must have missed the thread on this one. Am I alone in being totally in the dark about this? What are these loaders supposed to do? Offer more inventory space? Speed up the process.

Please God, tell me they can be programmed to do my harvester runs by remote control - lol!

I'm presently running 25 harvesters. I'm spending a lot of time on it, but not an absurd amount of time. Running harvesters requires management skill.

Here are some guidelines:

1. Try to visit each harvester twice: Once when a resoure spawns, once when its gone. This requires you to maintain significant working capital in the form of cash and power, since you'll often be putting 10 days worth of maintenance and power into a harvester up front.

2. For minor resources like Reactive Gas, Copper, and Chemical, try to stockpile a 3-4 week supply and rotate through.

3. Be willing to accept a mediocre site for the minor resources. The difference between a 70% site and a 90% site for reactive gas isn't going to make much difference.

4. Consider bulk purchase of the minor materials. I don't do that, but I probably should.

5. Run your business so that you don't have to empty out your harvesters too often. This will mean turning down business. Its hard to turn down business when all you have to do is visit a harvester to grab some material, and I do a certain amount of shortage-based harvesting, but doing so can really hurt your time-budged.

It all comes down to getting ahead in the game. Basically, in order to run an efficient operation, you need to get a solid 1-2 weeks ahead. Today I will put money and power into harvesters. A week from now, I will empty the hopper. I finish crafting with those resources two weeks from now.

There is no "what you are supposed to do".

Please show me in the rules where it says you are "supposed" to harvest only one thing.

I have all my harvesters on ore, since that is the thing we use most of. If i need extra cash i just sell some of the ore since i pull in too much. I cba to run to 5 different spots, working on getting them powered up for more than 2 days at a time to make even less runs. Once this gets started you should be ok with only a few runs a week.

But yes i agree. It takes so long to run the terrain of the land that it will start to seem like work and people will quit the game because its more hassle than fun after a while. Im a crafter, I love crafting , dont care much for pve/pvp. And i loved SWG because it offered the nice environment with a wide arrange of viable crafting options. But the time it takes to run your own harvesters is silly.. and being an architect, its hard to afford to buy materials and still come out ahead. YEah i know, im working on my tailoring.. But i really enjoy building the large structures.. with vehicles hopefully the travel time will get better.

Ok... Some of you arent realy trying to see what im getting at, what im basicaly saying is that I am trying to be self sufient, thats why i harvest every recorces that I need for building structures. See the thing is why should we even have to be put through 1 hour of boring torture for making those harvester runs, its not fun. There is no work around, doesnt mater when i do it, its boring and its not fun at all. Crafting those walls is hell only in its true form, crafting those walls makes me crazy, dont belive me, try crafing 600 walls. I dont enjoy it especialy when there could be a fix put out for this. I feel swg has SOOOOOOOOOOOO much potential, but working quickley and speedlyto apply a fix to things that do not work or bugged, is very important. These issue's need to be addressed asap. Trading recorces thats fine and dandy, but like i said i want to be self suffient, not depending on others, when it comes to recorces pertaining to my own class or items that envolve my own proffesion.

Not sure what your plan is but here is what I do. The basic requirements for the Architect it lots of LG Ore. You will also need Steel, Aluminum, Copper, Reactive Gas, and Chemical. These are the base components to make installations.

LG Ore and a metal for the structure modules and wall units. You're going to need lots of this. The others are for the generator turbines which you will also need. If you're building houses or furniture the requirements are going to be slightly different.

Sine I always need ore I use 2-4 harvesters just for ore. Two are energy collection units. From the list of what else I need I pick two resources. I then just mine those. After a week there is a shift and I move to two other resources I'll need. So right now I have Copper and Aluminum. Last week I was harvesting Steel, Gas, and Chemical. Next week I'll probably go back to the Steel and one other resource I need.

By rotating like this I can usually keep enough to keep me stocked for the two week cycle. I always have Ore and power coming in. The rest I rotate. The one downside is to get the base built up in the first place takes two weeks where you are going to be short materials. Basically I only harvested for two weeks, ran combat missions to earn some harvestor maint funds. I put my Arch business on hold for those two weeks. I'd planned to do this from the start so wasn't a major problem. This may not be to viable for an established Arch that has lots of incomming business.

But it does work well to concentrate on just a few resources at a time. Find out what you will need for whichever line you are working on. Concentrate on those basics and rotate. This should keep in you in stock with what you need. It will also cut down on harvester runs somewhat. Since you will only have three or four spots to run to. Stock them up with power and maint for two or three days at a time.

I'm kinda a hard-core player. I have two accounts: my architect and my combat character. In addition, my wife plays a little, so I use most of her lots, too.

Out of the 30 lots on these three accounts, I use 2 for my house, 2 for my factory, and my wife uses one for her house.

At the moment, I have 8 heavies and 8 mediums on ore, 3 heavies and one medium on steel, 2 fusions on power, and 1 each on copper, reactive gas, and aluminum. Sometime in the next week or two, I'm going to retire my remaining mediums.
