I want to first state that I am not an architect on SWG(trying IRL to be one, thats another story). I have been talking to my game friends who architects and I am starting to understand that this profession needs some tweaking.

Issue #1) Experimentation ability. There is none. But why would you need experimentation for architect features. I thought about this and there is a pretty good way to implement experimentation into architects houses. Add experimentation points to lots used and maintenance fee's.

Justification for Issue #1) IRL there are houses that require more maintenance then others. If you build with high quality materials your house will cost you less in the long run. It costs less energy to operate it and less money is spent fixing it up. This should be illustrated in SWG. If you build a house and make it with really good materials and good experimentation then it should cost less to upkeep it. About the lots used. Well I dont really have a justification for that I just thought it would be a great feature. Right now a heavy mineral harvester takes 1 lot, so does a small. So why not be allowed to experiment how many lots a house can use up?

Issue #2) Resources overall are horrible. I have found some decent ore but the concentration is real low. When I find a good concentration of ore the stats are low. Right now on Ahazi there are about 20 heavy and 30 medium harvesters on 1 spot of Lewiate Carbonate Ore. Stats? All below 550. Concentration? No higher then 64% at its best spot. I checked 3 other planets for ore. I found one with great stats, concentration was below 50. There definetly needs to be some higher concentrations of ore for architects to use.

Justification for Issue #2) Weaponsmiths and most other crafters have plenty of 90%+ spots with 4 stats above 900. Maybe its just a bad few resource shifts on Ahazi but its just what I have seen.

By implementing these ideas into SWG you keep a continuous market for houses and architects. Right now I have a large houes ill probably never use(deeded in bank) and a small one I use otherwise. If I knew that I could buy a large house with less lots ill buy it. Same for maintenance costs. And these concepts can even apply for harvesters. Perhaps if you experiment enough with harvesters you can lower maintenance costs on them or power consumption(excellent products are easier to maintain). Any takers?
