Thread: Remove planetary restrictions from houses

I suggest that the developers remove the planetary restrictions on houses. Let a Naboo house be placed on Rori or Talus or Tatooine. The only catch is: houses placed "offworld" have triple maintenance cost. This will open up a new market for our homes, satisfy customers who want the "good" houses on the "bad" planets like Talus, and help mix up the population more. Many people have moved away from the moons to Naboo or Tatooine just for the houses, and I can't blame them at all. Now the moons are much emptier, which again reduces the desire for players and crafters to live there. Finally, it would add an increased money sink to the game which would make the developers happy. The rich folks will plunk their large Naboo home down on Rori and drain an extra $2400 a day out of the economy.

This wil make alot of planets look worse than they already are..I thing they should restric more and make generic houses so they cant be placed on planets that have planet type homes..Generics look like trailor parks on tatooine..

Bad idea. Although I live on Corellia, and am *very* jealous of the really nice houses the people on Naboo and Tatooine get, it adds to the distinctiveness of the vaious planets, and this is a vital piece of the game experience imho. If every planet looked the same, that would really suck.

I am not sure I like this idea either. Still thinking aobut it, but my gut reaction is no, leave the restrictions there.

On the other hand it would make player cities more diverse. There would be an upside to it.

I could argue either side of this.

Hehe, I just thought this same thing and did a search of the architect forum. Sure enough someone already posted about it.

I think that distinctiveness is over rated. In reality what you have is a homogenous landscape, not a distinctive one. And that doesn’t even touch all of the outer worlds which ONLY have the generic styles. BORING!!!!!! Why can’t I build a dirt house on Corellia or a beautiful mansion on Tatooine? If anything it would make the landscape more interesting to walk through.

I disagree, I like how each planet has a feel to it, it already makes me cringe when I see a generic house on tatooine or naboo.

The planet houses (Excluding Corellia) each have their own style. The Tatooine houses are build of thick sand walls, to insulate from the hot days of the planet. On the other hand Naboo has fair weather, and beautiful scenery, so they take advantage of this and compliment it with the lush architecture, and balconies in everything larger than a small, multiple balconies on a large, affording the owner quite a view.

I say they add some more housing OR actually make some differences between some of the floorplans. Tatooine Style 1 and 2 is a waste. Do somehting different with them! Allow add ons or compartmentalize buildings so we can really tailor our homes to what we want.

I know this wouldn't be for awhile but it is a thought.

I disagree, there should be generic and planatary houses ( as there is ). Provides a better feel that way.

Rather then lifting the ban altogether, they should create new styles of houses, and perhaps even genarics that can be customized with modules by an architect. Lets take corelia for example...A modern, bustling world with a "So-Cal" look. So modern housing here is a must from a asthetic perspective. But there is alott of variation in "Modern Houses". Perhaps glass walls, balconies, fountains, burnished chrome...you get the idea. Make these premium homes, that take relatively rare resources, and give you a certain level of asthetic customization. Furthermore, all homes and pa'sshould be non-redeedable...or at least so expensive to re-deed that its coming close to the price of buying a new house. Two problems killed with one stone...Some of the Glutt of "joe-shmo xp grind doublewides" are off the market as people who got them from a grinder balk at paying 20k to redeed, keeping them offthe market and clearing the market for new structures, Second, we have a new premium-elite class of structure where our asthetic sensabilities and the customers desires come into play. A new market were we can make a few uber nice structures for discriminating buyers, rather then try to mass market pre-fab junk.

I would LOVE to have a Naboo style Medium house on Corellia.

I like the Naboo houses but I prefer to live on Corellia.

Maybe they just need to redesign the crappy Corellia houses and bring in some new stuff.

To be honest I never liked redeeding a house to begin with.. And I'm not even an architect.. It just doesn't make sense.. This house is built here but now I can pay a tiny fraction of it's cost to have it moved elsewhere. It just doesn't make sense.

dont know about removeing the restrictions entierly but wouldnt mind if they changed it so you can build naboo houses on corelia. my PA is based on corelia and to be honest I think that planet got giped for houses. the corelian houses are identical to the generic ones. the other option would be redesign the corelian houses so they actualy were a different style than the generics. the medium is bairly an improvement over one of the small floorplans where the medium on tat or naboo is a big improvement over the smalls. why was corelia left out in the cold for houseing?

To Upgrade something implies that you are adding too, enhancing, and fixing the thing that you are upgrading. The CU does not do this, it is not adding too, enhancing, or fixing the combat system that is in place, it is replacing the innovative SWG system with the generic one used by its competitors. Be honest and stop calling it the CU, Call it the CR (combat replacement) instead
