Thread: Enter/Ban Lists

But ..... at least last time I checked, adding "guild:basin" to your *admin* list does not work.
That's probably for the best. I mean you can probably trust veryone in your guild at some point, but all it takes is for someone to let one smacktard into the guild to rob you blind.

It depends on how you build your guild. The Amazon Basin is almost 4 years old now and I'd give any one of the members the keys to my account in a heartbeat.
It would be nice to have the option to do that.
Wow, your guild is older than the game? Interesting. (Yes I realize that you probably all came from a guild in another game, and I know what you mean.) But the simple fact is, that if you place give admin rights to a guild, and someone in that guild recruits one of the many lovely "gems" we all know are out there, you are effectively handing over admin rights to somebody else who doesn't have a vested interest in the well being of your belongings.
When I ran into my difficulty with allowing somebody access to my shop for the sole purpose of placing a vendor, the royal testicle ripped me off. The CSR's did eventually get most of my stuff back from him, but only because I had proof that they had admin for only a specific purpose. Granting admin rights to a guild effectively says that you're handing admin rights over to whoever has the ability to recruit for the guild and not yourself. This makes fraud and theft reports almost impossible to deal with.
While I'm sure that we are all happy that your guild is filled with boyscouts (Trustworthy, honest, and loyal people) I think it can be safely assumed that your guild is in the minority. As a case in point, last night my guild recruited a 'tard who I wouldn't give admin to a septic tank to. While we may be saying goodbye to this idiot (if he hasn't already been kicked yet) soon, it still is incredibly dangerous to just hand over admin rights to a third person or a group. If your guild is that trustworth, simply add all the members of your guild to the admin list.

I think this just says that your guild needs to be more careful in who they admit.

You're absolutely right, but the Devs have to accomodate the lowest common denominator. The guilds that are 100% trustworthy (if any) are few and far between.
There is a saying around that goes something like "if you make a system idiot-proof, only idiot's will use it." ![]()
By that logic the devs would have us not put anyone on our admin lists. There is nothing that stops you from putting an untrustworthy person on the admin list for your house. If you don't trust that your guild has people with integrity in it, then don't use "guild
aname" on your admin list.
