When I got to make my first factory a while back I got to experiment on it, aperently you can make the hopper size bigger or something. Now this is only 1 thing to experiment on without changing the end product.

Among professions like Weaponsmith, Armorsmith and Chef, experimentation makes a difference. And it's not just 1 thing, so they all need their extra experimentation points. Architects don't. When we make a harvester we get it up to max BER and just use the spare points for hopper size, for houses and factories it doesn't matter.

I've come up with an several ideas for experimentation, I'm not saying everything should have something to experiment on. Furniture is fine as it is. What I'm suggesting put several things to experiment on for buildings.

This is my main idea:


Factory experimentation:

-Hopper size

-Maintnace/Power cost

-Factory production speed


Harvesters:

-BER

-Hopper size

-Maintnace/Power cost


Other buildings:

-Item count

-Maintnace cost


-Hopper experimentation, this will be compareble with harvesters.

-Maintnace/Power experimentation, tweaking this I would suggest that if you crit failit to 0%the cost should be 10 units higher then it usually is on that building.

-Factory speed, this will be done in %, the better the experimentation the higher the factory speed

-Item count, I would like this to be lot orientated. If a building is 1 lot, 50 is the minimum and 100 is it max.


All this will require a entire makeover of the profession a lot of coding and a lot of server data storage, I just want to show me my thoughts over the profession I enjoy the most.

First, I think your basic idea is a good one. I strongly believe that experimentation goes to waste with Architect, for the most part, and a reduction in maint./power consumption would be a welcome change.
