Thread: Thinking about leaving our fine profession

I have come to a crossroads in the game due to the CU. I have always had a Master Architect on one server or another but I find with the doom of the CU upon us, I am forced to rethink my template to be able to survive the wilds while surveying. My current template is Master Architect/Artisan/Shipwright with some Merchant and Tailor sprinkled in. I am thinking that Carbineer will be the best choice to keep me alive while practicing a craft.
What do I give up? Shipwright was a long haul in terms of resources to master. Architect (something I discovered AFTER spending several months NOT grinding to get to Master) can be mastered in a matter of hours from novice.
Recommendations?

you have the same template as myself minus the tailoring skills as i have force crafting mastery 4-4-0-4
I love my template I gain a huge amount of enjoyement from playing this char as is
adding in combat skills is a hard choice to make and one I don't really want to do
I too would like to see what options people think might be viable

My crafting toon's template is as follows
Master Architect
Marter Artisan
Master Merchant
Tailor 0/2/0/0
Novice DE
Sure I would like to have some combat abilities to stave of attacks while placing harvesters, but if you are careful you can do and stay alive.
You can survey while cruising around on your bike, and when you drop your harvesters the adjustments the devs put in for operating them works from 60+ meters out. It may take a few minutes longer to get them set up, but you can do it and keep your beloved crafting profs.
Just my 2 cent, because I love my crafting toon a whole lot more than my ub3r b4ttle t00n

I believe that one of the more recent patches on TC-EP3 has made things a little easier for crafters by enabling them to do a lot more things from mounts...i.e.
TCEP3 Combat Upgrade
Version 0.120052
Mounts
- You can now craft while mounted or riding a vehicle
- You can now harvest while mounted or riding a vehicle
- You can now access the bank while mounted or riding a vehicle
- You can now place a structure while mounted
I'm guessing that this is the first step in helping crafters out a litle bit...
