Thread: Resource Supply
Ifsomeone put several 1k - 5k packets of resources (such as metal and ore) at 2 credits per unit, would there be a market with you guys? How about at 1 credit per unit? Would this ruin a planetary economy in the long term if it was done on a daily basis? I have discovered how to makea good profit doing thisso as long as there's a market for at least 5k -10k of materials in each city, so I'm wondering would you buy, and which resources would sell best to architects?
If someone were to put several thousand units of good quality metals, gems, and chems on the bazaar at 2 creds per unit on a daily basis - would there be a market for them in the artisan field? I can make agood profit doing this, as long as there's a market... let me know. I can only do this if I can sell at least 5k units in each city per day, how much demand is there?
I just turned 15 k on 3k resources after a resource reset yanked out from under all the grinders those precious Duralloy Steel and Ore resources they'd been wasting away. I stockpiled my excess and turned profit when they disappeared from the planet.
So, yes, certain times, certain places, resources can be a good money maker. As far as a whole living off of them, I don't think so. Much easier and cheaper for me to go out and build me a harvester on a good resource site. 720 a day for 100+...less than 1 credit per. THAT being said, you might be able to turn a profit if you find out what Docs and Medics need to craft thier medicines and cut deals with some of them.

Heck, no, it wouldn't ruin the economy. It might even make those 15K houses much easier (cheaper) to produce. If you're on Bria, sign me up as a supplier. I'll buy all the steel, aluminum, and low-grade ore you can produce at 2cr/unit. Might even buy low-grade ore at 3cr per unit, depending on demand for structures.
I hang out near Bestine and Mos Eisley.
Ramses1,
What you propose would not ruin the economy. If you are trying to "make a living" as a "miner" and are concerned about the economic impact of your selling prices don't. The great thing about comodities like this is people either need them or they don't and people are either selling them or they are not.
Figure out your cash output to get the resources. Figure out where you want your profit to be, then go for it. If your selling price is "too low" you will know it soon enough when you stop making a comfortable profit for yourself.
The majority of those selling resources are going to have prices higher than yours. Some will have prices MUCH higher. You will sell out fast. But there will still be people willing to pay for resources who will buy from those charging more, provided the price fits their idea of what's right.
It most certainly wouldn't kill the market, but I would shoot more for 2cred/unit if I were you. I've had no problems selling at that rate. For some things, I'd say it cost me more than 2cred/unit to get them myself!
How I wouldn't love to get rid of that 2.5km run to my ore harvesters and wind generators.
