Thread: Architect Tips
I finally made MA this weekend and got my guild's PA Hall completed. I wanted to pass on some of what I learned....
Tips:
- Make crafting macros! This will increase your productivity by massive amounts...
a) Put your crafting tool into slot 00(Far left slot).
b)StartCraftingMacro: /ui action toolbarSlot00;/selectDraftSchematic 25 -- Look in your Datapad and play with this value till you find the right item's value.
c) FinishCraftingMacro: /nextCraftingStage;/nextCraftingStage;/nextCraftingStage;/createPrototype;/createPrototype.
You won't be able to experiment or change names, but this will speed things up immensely. - Quality(Durability, Decay Resist, etc) of materials does not seem to matter for structures. A harvester made with poor quality ore doesn't run any worse than one made with high quality ore. Maintenence costs and energy efficiency seem not to be affected.
- Better crafting tools and crafting stations do seem to decrease the number of critical failures.
- Factories will not give you the "Load Schematic" option if you don't have any schematics already in your datapad. (I actually spent several days thinking that my equipment factory was bugged because of this.)
Bugs:
- Factory schematics can't be unloaded. To get a schematic out, make a "garbage schematic" and load it. This will force the first schematic to be unloaded.
- Factories sometimes eat resources but don't produce anything. To fix this redeed your factory and place it again. You will lose your schematic as a result, so load a garbage schematic into the factory first. Also make sure you empty your hoppers.
- Factory crates won't let you take items from them(the number decrements then goes back up again). I've been able to fix this by logging out then back in again.
I'm sure I forgot something, but I'll add more info when I think of it. If anyone else has any more tips then pleasepost them!

heheh..you forgot the most important number One rule : Don't become an architect ![]()
Alright, all joking aside, here's some of my pointers:
CF stands for Critical Failure - Bane of all architects
Whenever you're in a mood to grind, go for structural modules and then make them into wall modules. Structural modules and wall modules are the key components of your more advanced products.
Don't bother with construction line until you have maxedthe other three skill tresst. It's practically USELESS.
Get yourself a good crafting kit (effective rating over 12), a good crafting station (Functionality rating over 30) if possible. They will ease alot of CF pains.
Quality of material means Jack. Don't bother with it until our profession is revamped.
A good way to advance in skills and maintain a decent cash is to apprentice under a master architect.
The following link seems to dispute Tip #3:

I upgraded both my tool and my station, so perhaps the tool has an effect and the station doesnt?
More research needed, I guess.

Keep in mind that factory runs don't every fail(aside from bugs). That means that if you are concerned about lots of critical fails, then you can minimize those failures by doing large factory runs.
Of course you also get only 10% experience from factory runs and you have to be standing nearby throught the run to get that experience.
