Thread: Man, Architect is barely anything it of what it could be.

I've been playing mostly through april, and the Architect class (along with droid engineer, but that's another story) has bothered me.

It is just completely empty compared to what it could be. Let me throw some issues out:

1) Furniture.

Good lord, I don't even have to say anything about this. You can't tint or color furniture, you can't MOVE furniture up and down unless you've got stairs (which is a huge pain still) and hell, furniture is just so completely uninteractive. Can't lay on the bed. Can't fit more than one person on the chair. Can walk through every single piece of furniture in the game. Ech.

This just needs to be addressed: there's no reason for Architect to be stunted for how furniture is currently handled.

It would begrandif you could: Move furniture vertically, colour furniture (addition of furniture customization stat) not be able to walk through every single piece of furniture, have more interactive items, and finally rotating objects in 3d rather than 2d. (rotation of objects in 3 axises would add a ton of customization to houses, as you could lean things up against walls lay items on the floor, etc etc.

2) Lack of renewable income

Assuming I treat my house/harvesters well, there's really no reason an architect is going to get more business from me. Unless I move to a different planet and want a different house, or merely require another harvester, the architect will most likely not recieve any more money from me for thier goods, simply because I don't need anything from them. Here are my proposals:

a) actual interior design. Walls/floors and whatnot have "wallpapers" that can be attached to them and disappear once used. Walls and Floors can now be textured and colored and add a TON of customization to houses.

b) exterior design. done in the same fashion as a), this would give the architect the ability to craft wall/roof surfaces that can be placed on the house to give it a more unique look. Currently, most planets resemble the 1950's with carbon-copy houses sitting next to each other.

c) "maintenence" packs. give architects a schematic that costs a good amount of wood and metal to put together. Houses, after owning them for a bit, will begin to increase in maintenence costs, and failing to pay normal maintenence would increase this greatly as well. So, say, after owning your house for a week, the maintenence used per hour would start increasing unless you had the proper "Maintenence" pack built by an architect, which would be usable at the building terminal.

Keep in mind this is a pretty weak idea, but works much better for architects as opposed to what they've got now: almost zip for renewable income.

3) Lack of customization

My house, with the exception of how my furniture inside is poorly arranged, looks the same as everyone else's. It's a naboo house. Red carpeting, peach-ish colored walls. The outside is a brownish-peach, and the roof is a green color.

WHY?

Why in the same age where I can fly to another colonized planet, or throw a little 'deed' screen on theground which turns into a mansion can I not paint my roof or tear out my carpeting and put new stuff in? Why am I using burning pieces of wood to light my medium naboo space house which doesn't light correctly anyway?

There would be a ton of depth added to architects and housing if homeowners were able to paint thier houses, put new carpeting and wallpapers/pain in, rotate objects on a 3d axis, and move objects up and down.

I think most can agree that Architect is, more of less, one of the more needy professions. The profession itself needs some relatively simple revamps, and I believe the points I have stated will help it become much better.
