Thread: quality on non-experimentals?

I've been a master architect for quite a while now, but haven't made much except furniture since the big patch. I'm now working on getting all my PA's harvesters upgraded to new high quality stuff before dropping architect and moving on to something new. I was quite suprised to discover we can no longer experiment on stuff like structural modules or generator turbines today, however. Do these contribute anything to the final build quality at all, or am I better off just tossing my crappiest stuff into those components and saving my good stuff for the items that can be experimented?

I have found out that it does not matter. Like with structure mods, as long as you get a schematic to load in your factory, they all work the same. What you want to concentrate on is the Ore mining unit extraction rate and the final crafe. As long as the ore unithas an extration rate of 4 after experiment, and you use good resources at the final craft of the harvestor, you should get a great extraction rate on your final product. I now can get 10BER on med and 13BER on heavies all day long. I was real frustrated when i used my Ore mininig units from before the patch and was coming up with 8 BER on my heavies when prepatch was a 10 no prob. Hope this helps.

Yup, thanks a lot. As soon as I get home from work today I'll get the schem for the generator turbines in, then I'll have 30 medium 10 BER minerals ready for production... I've decided to go medium on minerals and heavy on others since I've found those to be the easiest footprints to deal with in tight spots. I'm just really glad that factories are pulling structural mods from crates now... that was a lifesaver on the 100 walls I've got ready to go. I was prepared to sit there and handload the mods all day while the factory ran, but gave it a test run with just the crates just for giggles... boy was I happy!
