You mean the input hopper on the crafting stations?

You can store your resources in there. Thats about it really. It can be kinda handy really.

But it counts as house inventory right? like when you use back packs? Wonderd about that but always forget to check and now servers are down

Yes it does. Every now and then you can a bugged one that doesn't count the hopper contents towards the item count (and when it happens to you...you go "shhhhhhhh").
