Thread: Harvester animations?

I'm not an architect. I'm not even a crafter primarily; I'm a BH/Carbineer.


But I do have a crafter alt, and I live in a very craft-heavy area. I pass collectors, harvesters, farms, and mining platforms every day on my speeder, and I can't help but wonder...


Why are they no longer animated?


When I first joined the game, I had my house next to a large ore field. I used to walk outside and see two dozen personal mineral extractors pounding away. It always amused me to drive through and hear them crunching, grinding, pounding away at the dirt.


Now when I find a huge field, it's deathly silent, motionless... it really ruins the ambience and atmosphere that used to be there


Does anyone know where the animationswent? Were they removed because of lag? Will they ever return? Is there some setting that I don't know about that I need to enable?

The animations just stopped one patch a while back, I really dont remember if they said why.. It does create more video lag of course but I would much prefer they did their moving and noises as they should.

they could just add and on and off switch to see the animation or not.

I've talked with more than a few CSR's on this in chat and all they say is that it's being looked into. I had one that played an Architect him self and said that he really has no idea what the deal is on it. He said that all the CSR's get in a responce is that it's being looked into and that it will come back in the future. I know that they went out on the patch prior to the Mounts/Player Cities one. The only thing that really burns my ass is thefact that you can run around the static cities and they have some harvesters set up in them for decoration and those damn things still work!

The strange thing too is that when you place them for the first time, you will see the animations working just fine. Also, when your turn them off and then back on, the animations work again...


But, as soon as you are out of visual range (when they poof off your screen) and you go back...the animations are not working anymore.


I too have read/heard about this being looked into, but I don't see any priority being placed on this issue, as it is not game-breaking, nor is there any adverse affect(other than ambience) or exploitive gain to the players.


I too miss seeing the fields of harvestors and their annoying noises (man did I hate it if you had a harvie near your house and you'd hear the noises while inside!!) But it did add a sense of "reality" to the game.

I think it was in wayfar i saw a solar moving.I think that was the first time i ever saw one move lol

They still do exist, but only when you yourself drop one then stand right next to it, then slowly move away. At about 10 meters this stops, but up to there they are moving.
