Architect can be good cash. Course it depends on what you think "good" is and how much time and effort you want to put into it. Most of us who have a large business with a lot of revenue have put a fair amount of work into it. If you just want to dabble a little in something on the side, then you might have a harder time making any significant amount of money for a while.
I enjoy it. Whether or not you will like it will depend on what you're looking for.
Most of the resources we use are ore and metal. To get started grinding thats all you'd need ore and metal. Any sort will do. As much as you can get. Then further down the line, steel with high HR, SR & UT is good for harvesters. Our resource requriements are mostly a matter of quanitity rather than quality.

For the grind you will need Ore and Gemstone and a bit metal. At the architect to make things you will need a ton of ore, many metal (for harvesters preferrable Duralloy Steel and Kammris Iron), for the generator turbines mostly reactive gas, aluminium and copper.
Strange and interesting things at the architect:
- The crafting stations you can do can be made with the architect tree, but experimented with the skill "Artisan Experimentation"
- To do fountains (water) or braziers (fire) you will need water

- Structure Factories need two lots
- The architect has no "using products", means that everything he does will hold forever if the maintenence is payed. Even the lamps are bugged at the moment and will continue spending light even the time is up.
- The only "unusual" resources you will need for some furniture. Unusual means Talium Copper, Synthetic Cloth from factory crates (Tailor), Pholokite Ore, Ionite Ore, etc.
But, it is a nice profession. The architect does not sell at high cr per unit, he sells many (!) resources at once. He calulates mostly with 3-6 cr/u (for example weaponsmith can calulate with a profit of 5000%).
I like it ![]()

There is another thread around here about "architects distinguishing themselves" - I suggest you read through that - it may tell you some things.
I'd make an analogy to being a doctor in the physical world. If you went to a group of doctors and said "I'm bored, I'm thinking of becoming a doctor because they make good money" I think they would all laugh a bit. Becoming a doctor in the physical world takes a LOT of work up front (unlike Architect in SWG which you can get to very quickly). But after you become a doctor those riches don't just rain down from the skys - you have to work very hard to establish yourself, get patients, etc. I don't think that there are many doctors who "dabble" at it and watch the money roll in.
Similarly, if you want to make some money in SWG as an architect, you can absolutely do that. But that money will only come because you do both the "crafting" part of it AND the "business" part of it.
If you want to do architect as a "hobby" and just make stuff for you and some friends, that's cool - you might enjoy it and move on to making it a "business". But if you are after cash, you better be prepared to work for it - and for it to take 1-3 months before the business just sustains itself without that hard work.

Like any other profession, if you don't enjoy it, cash won't matter in the long run. It takes time to build up a business, even among friends. But yes, if you can establish yourself, it can be good money. But as a successful architect, I spend 90% of my time crafting, harvesting, and filling orders. lol

Certainly, you can make excellant money being an Architectjust as you can make money being a miner andonlyharvesting and selling resources.
Like other professions, it greatly depends on what you like and if you like crafting. It doesn't require much to drop down harvesters, mine resources, craft and put items on vendors for sale but it does require some work and planning to make it all go smoothly.
Architects need lots and lots of ore and steel/metal. They alsoneed tons of structural mods and walls and are alwaysneedof generator turbines, ore mining units and Power Core Units (just to name just a few) - for most of the structure we make.
Also, to supplementyour income (while making your Structures), you'll want some grinding aluminum or metal to make furniture.
In a nutshell, mining your own resources will cost you about .5 (point 5 or one half a credit) and overall, items are sold for 3cpu and greater so really, there is good potential to be had.
To gain some advantage, you can buy additional lots. The more lots you have, the greater return of minerals you'll have and the more you can feed your factories and produce. As you get bigger, you may need a couple (or more) Structure factories. If anything, they can also be used for storage and are of greater benefit than a house.
There's lots of good info in this forum and many good Architects too that can help you with your question. Also, read the FAQ as there's good stuff in there too.
Good Luck
