I was always led to believe that item complexity affected the time a factory takes to produce an item but looking at my factories today I noticed something that had me puzzled.
I put a schematic for mineral mining extractors in my structure factory and checked it by using 'Examine' sure enough the factory reported for a complexity 15 object it would take 128 seconds each. I then put a powerup schematic in my equipment factory and again checked it to see a complexity of 9 would take it 192 seconds to complete each powerup.
So my question is, does each type of factory have a different 'time to complete' item or is there something wrong here as the item with a complexity of 9 seems to take longer than an item with a complexity of 15?

Something is up with the P-ups, i used to turn those out at about 40 secs a piece.

Wouldnt suprise me, I seem to have problems with many aspects of this very addictive but frustrating game.

It should be 8 seconds x complexity rating. Its the same for any factory type and complexity level.

Definately bugged, I'll redeed it and see if it is fixed. Thanks.

Check also, and I'm no expert, how many times you experimented on the item. Is complexity the measure of the item, or the final total after experimenting? I know that a benefit to experimenting a field all at once, instead of incrementally is that the more you experiment on an item, the more complex it becomes and hence the longer to make in a factory. I don't think this added complexity is evident when looking at the schematic. Try creating the same item, but only experiment on it once and see if your manufacturing time goes down. You run a greater risk of failure while experimenting, but you gain the benefit of a less complex item. Ifthat doesn't helpthen your bugged and nobody can help you...sorry.

Experimenting on items does increase the complexity of the manufacturing schematic. You can see the increased complexity value when you examine the factory.

Both the extractor and the powerup were fully experimented with 10 points each and the extractor having more components and thus more experimentation you would expect it to be a more complex item which it is but the powerup takes longer to produce in the factory.
Edit: Factory redeeded, new schematic made for powerup with the same res and now it's 152 seconds per powerup, very odd.
