Thread: Furniture/Structure Crafting Station in a Droid.
Is it a suitable replacement for the hunk of metal in a house?
Thank you.
No. Architects get the same number of experimenation points on a station that Artisans would.
DE's only get the number that their tier of experimentation grants. (1 per level.)
This means that the same quality resources used on a Arch station that produces a 25+ station will only get you a -4 in a droid at level 1 experimenation for both the Arch and the DE.
Yes.
Because there is absolutely, irrefutably no benefit to using a "high effectiveness" crafting station. The one correctly done test between high and low quality stations I read about actually showed worse performance for a high quality station.
I use my structure crafting droid all the time, and the quality of my houses, harvesters etc. is the same as everyone elses - because they have not implemented experimentation or material quality bonuses for Architecture yet.
It's much handier than a house bound station, since you can pull it out anywhere in town or in a camp and it acts as a 'personal' station rather than a public one.

Oh - I never crit fail anymore at all, using the Finishing Macro commands.

Unless I'm misremembering, when you're experimenting, the difficulty display shows lower numbers when you're using good tools and good stations.
Further, I know for a fact that anytime I get in the range of a negative rating station, my critical fails on the combine go thru the roof.
I love my droid, its perfect for making stuff on the go, in town, at other peoples houses, wherever I want to basically (Can just throw a camp down to get it out if im out in the wilderness)
They are a very handy tool to have, its a good investment imo.
Time for someone to wake up...
High functionality stations DIRECTLY AFFECT your experimentation success rate.
The higher the functionality, the more often you get great and amazing experiments. This also lowers the rate of failed and crit failed experiments.
I currently sell some pretty darn good stations 41+ Functionality. My customers are always telling me that they are getting better experimentation results when compared to their old stations.
The only time you will get bad streaks of experiments is when you just don't have the assembly skill to get that experimentation risk down to 0%. Let's face it... a novice can still botch things up even with the best tools... but they will still get better overall results.
I would also argue the results that were being mentioned above, as that testing was done over a few days, in which the game code was modified.
I would also like to mention that if you would like to test this on your own, I do have a set of 4 stations available for public testing in my shop. Feel free to stop in and test these. Um, yeah, crafting stations give better experimentation than droids... but what' the point, since an experiemented structure is no better or worse than a non-experimented structure?
The only thing a station might have over a droid is the odds of crit failing (if that even comes into play, not sure), but if you're using a station or droid in the first place it's to produce a big item, and if you crit fail on that you'll probably just macro through it anyway to avoid losing massive resources, so...
Droid seemsbetter. All the mobility you always wanted at no disadvantage (as far as Architect is concerned).

What's this crud about no proof that high functionality stations do anything?

What exactly, does your claim about improved experimentation results have to do with Architecture (this IS the Architecture Forum after all)? There are no items in the Architecture tree that are affected in any way by experimentation or material quality.
The only thing Architects care about currently (until experimentation and material quality effects get implemented) is the reduction of Critical Failures when crafting, which is handily covered by the crafting macro commands.
As for the effects of station quality on other crafting professions, do you have a link to any experiment results handy? You must have seen some to have formed your current opinion ...

The droid station provides the same functionality as the private crafting stations.
I don't know if the effectiveness ratings really matter or not, I think I'm unconvinced either way. Have yet to see real, compelling data on the matter (anyone have it?).
