Thread: why are architects so mad?
i guess i just tend to make the best of things...
i wanted to be an architect, but couldn't get enough resources to make very much stuff, so..
i ran around and found some people that didn't have houses and didn't use their lots at all. i offered them free houses (including maintenance and furniture - even though i couldn't make much at first) for the use of their lots. they have houses and i have 8 free lots. i have them follow me when i need to move the harvestors. there are lots of people that are more than willing to let you use their lots. i found that 16 extra lots is about all i can handle (just 2 people). i tend to run all 8 of each of their harvestors on the same resource till it is used up (so that i only have to have them move harvestors every 10 days or so). I quickly got to medium harvestors and i am just finishing my conversion to large. if the person wants a large house, i either sell it to them and find someone else, or contract a period of time to use their lots before giving them a free large house. i haven't had anyone do this yet because they like the free maintenance on the medium houses (even though it isn't that much).
by the time all of your harvestors are large, you will have enough exp to be a master archi. i put my master archi title up and run thru town. i always end up with orders. i either make them what they want or i send them to my house (vendor). i make about 500k to 1,000,000 cr per week without advertising. there are always people looking for stuff.
walls walls walls. i hate making walls, so i don't. when a novice archi asks me how to get to master fast, i ask them if they will make walls for me. i give them the resources and they make my walls for free. i get walls and they get easy exp (6k per wall). i make everything else in batches of 100 in a factory (gen turbines and such).
i only run on 3-4 resources at a time max. i look at my survey tool to see if the resources i am getting have shifted. if i am getting igopa steel, i name the waypoint hme(x) igopa. - heavy mineral extractor (initial of friend that placed it for me) name of resource - if the resource shows up in my survey tool, i don't have to go to the harvestor (unless i run out of maintenance or power). i always put 4 days maint and power on each harvestor and i make my rounds that often (unless there is a resource shift). I would do it less often, but the harvestors fill up sometimes if i don't pay attention.
extra money ??? if i need more money (which hasn't happened in a long time now) i sell resources in 10k chunks for 19k - 30k depending on the resource. they sell fast.
That is a nice business model. I think however that in the game you have now alot of people are looking into the not so distant future to see that there will be no need for our stuff b/c there is no decay. Hence, people wont require new stuff from us!!!
We all like the profession or else we wouldnt be here. Some people have found success others havent. But I think we all understand that we need some attention or else we all wont be able to be architects because there wont be enough customers to support us.
The reason why we are so mad is because our profession is dying and the Devs haven't even given an inch of knowledgement of doing anything to fix it. We can make tons of money if we are lucky enough to set up a good system but our demand for our products are disappearing very quickly and our future with it.
